Yeah, I'm a little on the fence about this. I'm not reaching for them much these days, despite the huge catalog I feel like they use code over and over again, It's a good sound, it's just not that different from synth to synth in my mind, and to a degree it's my own fault for buying the V Collection, after decades now of buying bundles, it's always that I don't use but maybe 1/4th of what's in any bundle, it just becomes clutter on some level.noiseboyuk wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 10:09 pm So sorry I'm not ragging on Arturia, I'm a happy camper.

The only thing I found weak in Pigments were the filters, until they added the MS-20. I've been wondering how they'll update already existing filters in Pigments that were based on older emulations, such as the Mini.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

The video was entitled something about "New Models" or "New Modals"
I got a notification on my phone, instantly clicked on it and got a message that the video was removed by the user
Not sure what that means

I'm hoping they finally worked on the overall sound ,and have added their Steiner-Parker filters in their next release.
I'd agree with the poster above, if Pigments had the sound of Massive X it would be the one to beat.

But then it would also sound redundant. I hope that whatever they do, it doesn't destroy the character of the sound I use it for.trusampler wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 10:39 pm I'm hoping they finally worked on the overall sound ,and have added their Steiner-Parker filters in their next release.

If you don't like Pigments, don't use it.
If you love Massive X, use that.
Down with the plugin homogenizing.

I like pigments for the features, but the filters could be better. I think this is what the poster above to what I was also agreeing to. Ok deal, so if they update the filters, you stop using it ? Or can they add more filter options? Is that ok with you ?
That's laughable

It depends. I just know that over the decades, "new & improved" has killed almost everything I used regularly and sent me looking elsewhere to find the "sine qua-non" I loved in the beginning.trusampler wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 10:58 pm I like pigments for the features, but the filters could be better. Be it in cleaning, hygiene, foods and yes, even software.

Understood, and when you put it that way I get it.I've seen alot of things resort to that as well. My point on the addition of the Steiner-Parker filters,if they chose to add this,is we will get closer to the Polybrute tones with that filter in particular. So in some sense, some changes could benefit us. Again though, I have no idea if they're even releasing a v6 yet and just wishing on stars for another filter option.

Just visited their website and was greeted by „Our webstore is currently undergoing an update.“ Can’t be too far away now. Exciting.

The NAMM Show Floor with all the booths opens on Thursday morning. Any product announcements will need to happen before then as Arturia has a booth there. NAMM technically started today but it's just meetings and lecturesnanostream wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 12:32 am Just visited their website and was greeted by „Our webstore is currently undergoing an update.“ Can’t be too far away now. There has already been speculation/leaks on new controllers based on the new polybrute Keybed
They need to have something new on the software front. A new pigments would make sense, would be be surprised to see another virtual instrument also that eventually ends up in V Collection 11 later this year

Filter drive would be great. Pannable oscillators, a wavetable editor, resynthesis ala Serum and Vital, spectral oscillator FX, maybe the ability to use more than 2 engines per instance. A more intuitive modulation remap system like Vital or Phase Plant.
I rarely use Pigmemts despite it being pretty great but the above would be cool additions.

I wonder how they could improve Pigments though if they still want to keep it compatible. And I'm pretty sure they don't want to break compatibility because they have so many existing presets in the sound store for it.
So if they introduce new filters or a better analog osc, they would need to do it on top of the old ones. E.g. introduce MiniV2 and keep Mini. Maybe there could be an option to convert / switch a patch to the new modules, so it's simple to upgrade a patch?

Hopefully more reverb algos
All "flagship" synths should include at least 4 modes.
