Yes, I know, but it's not out till next year, so not much to talk about. I was just pointing out it was already in another thread. I didn't at any point say it should or shouldn't be here.

Not out until next year is all the more reason for the BX1 to have it's own thread.

A hard pass from me. Horrible synths to programme. I'd expect there's a quite excited userbase for these but I just never liked programming DXs, even though I still have one. Having CS80 filters on it makes it a tiny bit more attractive but still can't overcome the awful interface. Good to see Behringer still churning the oldies out though, and it's a bit of a different direction from them.

Glad to see them branch out more, but what a weird choice? A rather large synth based on FM, with analog filters? Plus where the f*ck is their CS80 clone? they gave up and gutted it for the filters, then tossed them on a DX clone?

The CS80 clone would have been my first synth from Behringer, as long as they did all the things, poly aftertouch with a huge ribbon controller. Could double as a master keyboard etc.

No it makes sense in the context of Uli winning the auction for the Tears for Fears equipment.

Because all products deserve their own thread to cover development news and discussion, instead of a confusing grab all thread covering multiple products.

There is going to be much more news and discussion on this single synth through this year and next. Keeping it just in the NAMM 25 thread only is silly. Don't be silly!

Yeah, totally agree. It's not for me, but it's cool to see them cranking out these vintage synth re-issues with modern conveniences. If someone had told me they were about to announce a Yamaha FM reissue, I would've guessed DX7, so a DX1 with CS80 filters is pretty cool surprise

I agree that this needs its own thread. Moreover, I think that this is important hardware. Even though I don't think that it will have the polyphonic aftertouch keybed, and even though from my POV it is nowhere near perfect, I'm probably going to buy one. What I believe that this synth is all about is that it's Behringer's projection of what Yamaha believed that Yamaha's flagship synth of the day should have been. The whole "you don't need filters because FM is it's own thing" was marketing hype designed to sell FM synths at a time when everyone was used to subtractive, and academic papers because, well, that's how you sell academic papers. The reason that this never existed in its day is because it would have simply cost too much to bring the voice signals back into the analog domain for filtering and then combine them again on the output, never mind the costs of the additional filters for the increase in polyphony.

So, no matter what the final version looks like, I'm very excited about this. And yes, I think modern digital filters are so much better today than the were even a decade ago, but, whether I should or shouldn't, I am very willing to spend money on a DX7 with real analog filters, especially since it has wooden endcaps and red LEDs.
