Any "personal offer" button leds to a 404 page for me... anyone else with the same issue?

And is it free upgrade for all Pigments owner, or just e.g. "Pigments 5 purchased"?

Same here. Stuck at work so I can't update at the moment, but yeah I bought it when it was released, makes some killer noises. But I've only managed to find a spot for it in ONE track so far, and I actually sampled it and used that instead..

Arturia has presented three different Special Offers for Pigments owners.
Has anyone been able to complete a purchase yet?
In my case, whenever I try to click the purchase link, I keep getting a “Bad Request” error.

When I click on "free update for pigments users" I get redirected to the "_AudioFuse 16Rig - Firmware Update", Q&A-page, well

I bought Pigments 1 a million years ago and it's just a regular ol' update in the Software Center.

I didn't have Pigments yet and decided to buy it with the personal offer ; I also got the 404, but when I added it to my basket via the store it automatically applied the discount.

This is a damn fine synth, I'm impressed.

i owned pigments 5 & sold my license. am i the only one? pigments is fun to play with, but i feel like it doesn't play well with other synths (i use mostly dune3, synthmaster3, spire2, vital, diva...).

even if it's just me, so it goes. but am playing with the demo now, and it's pretty great (otherwise).

I don't have any of these mentioned synths.
Therefore I'm quite satisfied with Pigments.

Pigments has a quite particular sound to it. It's uniquely middle of the road sounding.. meaning it can be quite boring. Even distorted and "extreme" sound output still has this finger print on them. Thus if you can not work around this with external effects or clever programming, it is indeed something that could make you dislike the synth.

Having said that, I don't have any problems getting it to sit in mixes. It actually does background fill tasks very well. What it doesn't do, in my opinion, is distinct in your face and "detached from the rest" kind of sounds. It's a good layer synth. Have a strong synth sound that needs just a little bit of background layer? Pigments does that extremely well. Thus it's also very good for pads and things that need to sit way back in the mix.

I veered away from it, not because there's anything wrong with what it can do, I just started using more singularly-focussed instruments for specific purposes which are a bit less resource-intensive.
It's nice using synths which have high refresh rates for the GUI controls, it just feels good, and Pigments doesn't (at least on Mac OS). I've tended to think the psychological effect of how a GUI feels gets interpreted as sound quality, hence people seem to think there's something not quite there with Pigments. Also the basic filter was cold digital, but they've just updated it with drive and analog mode, which is great.
The feature set it awesome now, and I'll probably start using it a bit more. Thanks Arturia for a superb update.

Huh - the ASC doesn't run for me on MacOS 13.5. Just get "not responding" and have to force quit.

Pigments is definitely one of those synths that looks better on paper than it is in the flesh.

I don't know what it is about it but it's always the last synth I'd think of using despite the impressive feature set.

The best way I can find to describe it is that is has kind of no personality.

Post

Very clinical and plastic sounding. Not much sonic character? It's hard to describe why I don't prefer it over my other synths.

Pigments is for cool people. Not nerds. :hihi:

Is it the most “characterful” plugin out there? No, but what multiengine synthesizer is? I feel like I can’t think of any. As far as I’m concerned, there are plenty of ways to make a characterful sound with Pigments, while it not necessarily forcing you to a specific sound. More of a chameleon than a gecko.

Here's the analogy I'm going to use. Pigments is like a Mustang GT which is a very fine car.

But I have Bugatti Veyrons and Koenigsegg Ageras in my garage so I prefer to drive them. Nothing wrong with the Mustang it's just not my first choice.

Pigments is one of those synths that suffers from the effects of "Fat Folder Syndrome" here. Great synth but I have many others that I much prefer.

But after spending time with Pigments 6 this morning it will no doubt maintain its position on my B Team. Not something I reach for first or every day but something that is called up for special occasions. It is fun to program and even more now at version 6 so I'm still happy to own it.....
