Edit: got it. Took an hour of login attempts, but I got it. Will dive in and see if its worth the $0 I paid.

I just keep trying to log into the ASC, and I get as far as the password dialogue and then after about 5 minutes it times out. Maybe if I offer them the $99 they claim is my "special offer" on their website, it will suddenly connect and download the update? lol
Might be they are using different servers throughout the world, I'm based in the northern parts of Europe (Sweden), and at this time of year, it might be the most boring place to live. Arturia probably knows this at let us skip the queue.

Funny thing, is the website shows me (when logged in) an offer to upgrade to Pigments 6, but in the ASC Software, Pigments 6 is already in and I can download it.EuroHobbes wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 6:42 pmI didn't have Pigments yet and decided to buy it with the personal offer ; I also got the 404, but when I added it to my basket via the store it automatically applied the discount.Cyforce wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 6:17 pm Any "personal offer" button leds to a 404 page for me... anyone else with the same issue?
And is it free upgrade for all Pigments owner, or just e.g. "Pigments 5 purchased"?
This is a damn fine synth, I'm impressed.
So maybe, just a crossgrade offer from a single purchase of older software. So better check ASC before going for a crossgrade offer displayed on the website

I've been reading about the "Arturia sound" for years from forum posters, but I'm skeptical anyone could reliably pick it out in a blind test.bmanic wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 7:19 pm Pigments has a quite particular sound to it. It's uniquely middle of the road sounding.. meaning it can be quite boring. Even distorted and "extreme" sound output still has this finger print on them. Thus if you can not work around this with external effects or clever programming, it is indeed something that could make you dislike the synth.

Yeah, I can confirm that is what is happening. I got this same thing from Native Instruments (Berlin) when I used them, and I am here in California, in the fascist oligarchy of america.starflakeprj wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:24 pmHaha, please don't do thatMilkman wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:07 pmNoooooooooo!starflakeprj wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:03 pmI installed it like 20 times just so you couldn'tMilkman wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 8:59 pm Can you all please stop hammering on the ASC login so I can get the update? To be clear, the update is free for owners of Pigments. The servers are super slow, like they usual are when a new Pigments or V Collection update drops

I just put an Acustica Eq , namely aquamarine or Sunray on Arturia Pigments channels and it comes alive
Arturia definitely has a sound, but so does every instrument

I am 100% sure that I could NOT pick the sound out in a blind test but I understand what they're saying.bonch wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:32 pmI've been reading about the "Arturia sound" for years from forum posters, but I'm skeptical anyone could reliably pick it out in a blind test.bmanic wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 7:19 pm Pigments has a quite particular sound to it. I only own three Arturia synths but I've demoed most of the rest and there is "something" about their core sound.
Now I'm not even going to try to define what that "something" is as it most likely can't be defined or perhaps even measured. Maybe it's some kind of subtle Psycho-acoustic effect, I really don't know.
It's not an unpleasant core sound but there does seem to be a common core sound. Nothing that would keep me from buying more Arturia synths (or inspire me to do so) but again I can relate to what they're saying.

A lot of the presets seem to have something missing from the frequency spectrum, making them sound strangely airy and bodiless. A lot of the bass presets need EQ to actually give them some bass. Which is odd, because Pigments absolutely can sound huge, and easily.matamoris wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 7:43 pm Very clinical and plastic sounding. Not much sonic character? ASC falls on its face literally every single time they release something. This has been the case for at least a decade. Just get it from the downloads page directly:

The modal synth and the new filters are way beyond an update

Pigments just isn't all that good at going wild in a "nasty" way. I'd say Pigments is pretty much the polar opposite to Massive X in terms of sound. Massive X is extremely easy to make it sound super snappy, punchy, forward and nasty. Pigments is the exact opposite. It's super easy to make it soft sounding, unassuming, laid back and mellow.. and when you do try to make it snappy and nasty it just ends up being fizzy and weak.Vortifex wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:08 pmA lot of the presets seem to have something missing from the frequency spectrum, making them sound strangely airy and bodiless. I guess it's a sum of many parts. The envelopes are rather lazy in Pigments. A lot of the modulation sources feel like they are running at a much lower internal update rate than on some other synths.. or it's the way they internally filter things / oversampling solutions. I don't know. Whatever it is, Pigments most definitely has a "character".
Anyhow, whatever that character is, you simply use it what it's good at and don't even bother going for what it can't do. It's not a be-all end-all synth. It's got a sweetspot and some strengths. When you keep within those strengths it's absolutely amazing!
Speaking of which.. I just made my first preset tinkering with the new Modal synth engine. Turned out pretty good in my opinion. You can download that single preset HERE. (Google Drive, Zip, 19kb)
