When I made the final plunge into MCompleteness, I was really psyched to check out MDrummer and expected it to become my main, go-to drum VSTi.
This hasn't happened, and the reason is that it's too complex, it takes me too long to go from "having a beat in my head" to "programming the beat."
It's that old MeldaProduction complaint, and much as I hate to repeat it, there's just so much going on with MDrummer's UI that I find it distracting and daunting. Even on the Quick Setup page in Drum pad mode.
I propose a solution for me and others who may have had similar experiences to mine: just as with MSoundFactory and other MeldaProduction plug-ins such as MDynamics and MTurboReverb, there could be an "instrument" or "device" mode that presents a more traditional look and controls.
It would look a lot like the Dream Machines instrument in MSoundFactory, but would have the features that most drum instrument plug-ins have (but which Dream Machines unfortunately lacks), such as 8 (or more) pads and choke grouping. The pitch and filter controls and rudimentary mixer that Dream Machines has would be great.
As many drum plug-ins do, it could also have 16 (or more) slots for patterns.
The Quick Setup page in Drum pad mode already does have most of these features. It would be so useful to have them presented in a "friendlier" more traditional layout.
Instrument(s) mode for MDrummer (feature request)

A simplified MDrummer makes much sense. Great idea!

If I could hijack this thread for my own MDrummer feature request, it would be to allow using third party effects in its mixer. (Although I'm not sure if this is technically possible.)

I was thinking of simplified MDrummer many times, but there's never a dev time... But it could be interesting to make you people design such an instrument - make an online document with images and shit and let everyone edit it. It would be interesting, because you'd probably see how everyone has a very different workflow in mind
