Overview of Shreddage Palm Mute Layers

Hi,

I have four of the Shreddage guitars, namely Hydro, Rogue, Serpent and Jupiter. At the moment I'm trying to get the best out of the Palm Mute Layers (for Heavy-/Power Metal). That leaves me with the question: Where does one layer end and the next start? According to the website Hydra, Jupiter and Rogue have 5 PM layers while Serpent has 7. But neither on the website nor in the manuals I find some kind of list/overview on which particular velocity value one layer ends and the next starts (by default).

I did a test file with eight 1/8th MIDI notes playing on velocity 1, then velocity 11, 21 etc. up to 121. All clean with only one guitar enabled in the plugin. Then exported that to wave and listened (and looked) at that in Audacity. Hoping I actually can see the difference. Which I did to some point.

If I can trust my ears e.g. the first PM layer is around 1 - 20 (or 30, depending on the guitar), then the next starts and so on with layer 5 starting at 101. But: I didn't try all values from 1 to 126 as single notes/sounds. I guess I wouldn't hear any difference then.

Are there any "real" variations within a layer? Does it make any difference if I have a note (within one layer) at velocity 10 or 20?

Can anyone help me out with some kind of lists? Or am I completely wrong and should go with a different approach?

This is all handled on the Articulations page. Select the palm mute articulation and in the bottom panel you will see a table which adjusts which layer is triggered for which velocities.

Thanks for your reply. I am aware of the Articulations page and (at least some) of the possibilities there. But: There is no "table". Only this "graphic" (see attachment) where I can do some adjustments with the mouse. But as this is kind of small I find that very hard to do and to really "see" at what velocity it actually changes.

Can you also help me with this question?

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Velocity differences can affect volume and tightness, depending on Vel->Vol and Vel -> Tightness parameters. Otherwise it just switches between mute layers.

The table doesn't have a readout for which column is which velocity, currently. There are 128 columns there, though, so you can at least roughly eyeball it. This is a potential improvement for Shreddage 4 (whenever that happens).

Thanks! I did a screenshot now and zoomed at it in Photoshop. That way I could count and built myself a table with an overview.

The other parameters, vel-vol and vel-tightness I need to have a closer look at.
