The old bank needs to be deleted manually and I'm sure not everyone is comfortable doing so.

They don't fix things, they just drop them...
Hey SLiC & Examigan, it is fixed on my end! I’m only seeing the updated bank names.

If anyone on here has two banks, or is still seeing the old bank with the overlapping text, please let me know so I can reach out to you!

Marco, I'll send you a DM and get some more information from you if that's okay.
DM sent, with plenty of screenshots :tu:

That isn't a "fix". That is a "workaround". Lame work.

Yeah the GM bank for the XV-5080 and JV-1080 would be great, specially now that the Sound Canvas VA plugin is discontinued.

The GM bank was in the original hardware so I'm not sure why it was skipped in the plugins, even the KORG Triton plugin includes GM Banks.

Not just the GM banks, but it would be a pretty simple matter to bring the actual Sound Canvas Samples into the XV5080 product and use the XV5080 engine to emulate Sound Canvas Presets

While that would be very cool, I doubt Roland would be willing to add the Sound Canvas samples, considering that the XV-5080 plugin is still missing stuff from the original hardware (sampler, GM banks, etc.) and that some bugs have not been fixed for years makes me think that Roland has not much interest in the XV/JV/SRX plugins anymore.

What I see more likely though is a Sound Canvas expansion for Zenology, or even an entirely new plugin.

I sadly see XV5080 going the way that Sound Canvas did and just ditching it all together in favor of Zenology

Yeah it seems that way unfortunately.

It's really annoying when you load up a Roland VSTi that you haven't used in a while and all the presets have disappeared. It kills the mood. Windows 10. I don't feel like going through the process of restoring the presets (again).

Well... that's something that never happened to me (fortunately). I'm also in Windows 10. Do you perform some special installation?

No.

It must be quite common though because they have a page devoted to it.

Hopefully it will keep working if support is eventually dropped.

ToddlerTN wrote: Thu Aug 29, 2024 8:36 am It’s clear that posting bug reports on the VSTs like JV-1080 or XV-5080 is pointless. I don’t understand putting products out there and selling lifetime keys for them and refusing to fix them. There are boutique outfits in the world where you can actually dialogue with the guy doing the code and he’ll be excited to perfect his products. On the flip side, there’s an international corporation like Roland that can’t invest a few hours of a coder’s time to address documented and acknowledged issues that are easily fixable. Shame on you, Roland.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I’ll see you all again in three months.
Totally understand your frustration ToddlerTN. We really do take these issues seriously and both the XV-5080 and JV-1080 CPU issues turned out be more complicated than we anticipated. It's not that we aren't trying to fix it, it's just going to take more time. We really do appreciate the patience so far from everyone and we will get it resolved eventually. Again, please feel free to reach out to me and I'd be happy to discuss solutions with you.

This is great feedback and I've already passed it along.
Great, but I’m actually not complaining about the CPU issues. I’m pissed about the bank/patch name display issue on the XV-5080, which is simply due to the fact that these two data fields are overlapping in the interface. It’s literally the simplest, quickest fix in the world, and yet years later it persists, and owners are casually told to manually truncate all of their bank names at the file system level (names upon which longtime hardware users have relied for decades) rather than Roland simply owning the issue, spending a couple of minutes nudging the GUI, and recompiling the code.

I’ve posted this several times before already, but look at the images below. The bank name and patch name write to the same part of the screen on the XV-5080, rendering the text illegible. The same banks on the JV-1080 don’t have that problem. This is an acknowledged bug, and Roland should fix it, even if it’s a challenging fix, although it’s not – it’s literally the simplest possible fix to implement.

JV-1080 (bank and patch displays correctly):

XV-5080 (bank/patch display overlaps):

I don’t understand putting products out there and selling lifetime keys for them and refusing to fix them. It’s lazy and pathetic to take so little pride in your products, Roland.

I've been begging about this for years. Is there any hope this will be properly fixed, or is there just zero willingness on Roland's part to do it?

That looks like a difficult problem. They may have to stop selling that plugin.
