Unfortunately not. I owned a Crumar Performer (which now I regret selling!). I also have a Soviet Elektronika EM-26, vocoder/string machine.

Too bad you’re far away, I’d send you my Performer.

Thank you! My Performer was also modded, someone added a switch to extend the range of the LFO, it was cool.

We've got several requests for a video showcasing the presets, so here you go!
I put together a selection of the factory presets to give you a taste of what it can do.

Kidding aside; the 1604 was also a prominent piece in Shadow's - Endtroducing, that people tend to forget, Dan the Automator (who mixed the Album) should also have used a Mackie 8 - Bus on top of that.
In all seriousness (and to bring this back on topic) the old Mackies including the 8 Bus, original 1604, and the first generation ProFX line have a color that is simply awesome on electronic music

When I record I love to use my first generation Mackie ProFX 16. On the Master Bus I insert AudioThing's "Type A" which emulates is the Dolby A trick that boosts high frequencies, I follow that with AudioThing's "Reels" which emulates a consumer level reel to reel with limited high end frequency response so the boost you get from Type A gets tamed in an amazing way. Kind of like the Pultec EQ trick where you cut and then boost frequencies. Finally I use AudioThing's Type B which emulates the Aphex Aural Exciter Type B which was created to enhance the frequency response of tape

Doing that emulates using Dolby to record to a consumer level tape deck, playing that back through an Aphex Aural Exciter, and then mixing that down through a 1990s era Mackie Mixer and into a DAT

AudioThing's SX1000 and other vintage inspired Synths sounds awesome when doing that. Doing that I am essentially recreating my mid 1990s setup

Normally the early Nineties ones praised for their overdrive.
Good to know the ProFX versions are equally good.

Type A/B both excellent tools, indeed.

IvyBirds wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 2:07 amWhen you do th Juno 60 might I suggest the ability to add some of your more quirky effects (that I love and you do so well) both before and after the chorus. Things like a Spring reverb before and/or after the chorus would be awesome

Also on the Juno 60 there were three buttons for tape that you could save and load your presets to

Might I suggest you use those for 3 different presets from your tape sims, maybe two from reels and one from wires
We're definitely planning to add effects for the Juno, just like we did for the SX1000. I'm also working on updates for Wurly and Philicorda to include built-in effects. Originally, I aimed for a "pure" emulation, but it turns out people really enjoy having some effects right in the same GUI. Good idea to give the option to have them pre/post. Thanks again for the feedback!
To keep the vintage feeling while still adding the effects, you could do what U-he did with Repro, and add the effects to the system as if they are effects pedals. It would keep the illusion that the original synth is the original synth, and that the effects are add-ons.

audiothing wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 1:02 am Talking about wasted time and our thinking process, our next synth is going to be a not-fancy, not-classic, probably dull, Organ/Strings machine combo. And yes, the JUNO 60 is in the works too (which is why we added that arpeggiator to the JEN). They should make a pretty good dull pair
The SM 2007 ?
No, unfortunately I've never seen one. It's the Roland RS-09 (MK II).
Oooh! A string machine!! I can't get enough of those! :)

No worries, I figured it was a long shot.
Looking forward to the RS-09 emulation! 👍

Wow so what you are saying is that a flagship Wavetable Synth with three wavetable oscillators that can also do sample playback, additive, FM and other things like super saw is better at synthesis than a recreation of an obscure 1970s synth with a single analog oscillator?

Wow thanks for letting us know, not all heros wear capes. What would we do without you and your expertise
