So many different options made it a bit confusing at first.
2 different new buy-in options with different prices, different upgrade options, and even cross grades from different products.
Arturia does similar things, so I guess it's just a matter of getting used to it.
I'm really looking forward to getting CV3.

I guess you can upgrade to CV2/preset pack if you have CV1 or maybe something else from AAS, and you will get CV3 when it comes out.Held wrote: Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:47 am I have the following upgrade options in my account.

If I upgrade to CV-2 with the preset pack, will I still get the upgrade to CV-3? If so, why even offer the option to upgrade to CV3 directly. I'm confused.
Upgrade to CV3 directly is if you have CV2 already I guess. Or as in my case, I have CV1 and decided to skip CV2 and go directly to CV3 when it comes out. I have enough other stuff to keep me busy until then.

I heard great things about the booth at NAMM and introduction of this new version. I can't wait to check it out. As always, AAS provides very reasonable upgrade pricing.

I had kind of written this off because of VCV Rack but decided to try the demo anyway and ended up purchasing. I have to say I am really liking it. As a long time Nord Modular user/fan (G2 is still my favorite modular environment despite its shortcomings), I find it really welcoming. The limited set of modules and consistent design, will most likely result in quicker and more rewarding patches. And it sounds great! The Wild West of module design and option paralysis of VCV Rack can be a drag.
Anyway, a couple of things list of things that I missed in my first few sessions (not sure if AAS participate here):
- Key modifier for click-scrolling. Similar to ctrl-drag in VCV Rack for navigating the patch.
- Key modifier for moving connected output cable(s) to another output. This is especially annoying when you have multiple cables connected to one output and you need to move them to another output.
- Multiples on outputs - a cable should be able to be connected from one output to another output with a connected cable (mult-ing it to the connected input).
- Multi-select (shift click, click-drag select)
- When making a cable connection it would be great if the socket would have a visual cue that the connection is valid (see VCV, G2 editor etc.)
- When hovering over a connected socket it would be great to see the value being input/output (VCV Rack).
- Module replacement (within same category) while retaining applicable cable connections (G2 editor).
- Ability to enable/disable a module while leaving it patched.
- Patch presets similar to variations on the G2. Switching between them with program changes would be great. Morphing would be better!
- The patch mutator on the G2 editor is another really useful feature.
- A simple sampler! Trigger inputs for record/playback. CV ins for sample loop playback start and length.
[ Edit - ok, this list is getting larger the more I use the software and my initial excitement is getting dulled a little
]

I can see that. As a voltage modular user, it's easy to get overwhelmed by your options. Sometimes having a smaller set is better for creativity.

I’m an old Nord Modular G1 user, and it def has that same vibe.. I’m just now using CV-2 and am excited about the changes in the upcoming version.

Just a bit of G2 lore. The guy who made the patch mutator for Clavia used to hang out on Muffwiggler, now modwiggler forum, and he said it was a long intense build but also said the G2 almost sank Clavia completely. They had to scramble a bit to survive. Was a rough time trying to survive as a company. He made it sound like everyone there experienced some trauma as a result no one wanted to hear anything about nord modular development in the future. I always wished they made a software version free of the hardware requirement and still to this day if they released such a thing it would be an instant buy for me. It was always the best software modular experience for me. I liked the nord modular editor a lot. It, of course, had a sound I really liked. Same guy also said they had the G2s running in the shop as development devices for prototyping stuff.grimleyj wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 5:12 pm - The patch mutator on the G2 editor is another really useful feature.

I just loaded up the old Tassman 4 for a quick peek. I like the general look and method of working with the newer CV better, but Tassman has a nostalgic look that's also appealing.
But scanning through the modules, CV has a long way to go before it approaches Tassman's level of building block material.
Especially in the filter, resonator and generator sections.
Some of those things are available in the individual modeling instruments,
but I'm thinking AAS is going to add them in to CV gradually with updates.
Hey- they've got to make money somehow right?
Anyways - I'm hoping it's not too much longer before CV3 is released.

We've had long discussions here about Tassman vs the modeling collection/Multiphonics and it was pointed out (to me) that TMC is very good but not super awesome great and that the developer of Tassman left AAS and now works at Black Magic Design (Davinci Resolve). Somewhere in this thread i think:Some of those things are available in the individual modeling instruments,

might have been Michael L.
So far Multiphonics is nowhere near Tassman in the PM world.
We wanted Tassman 5, i still do, but it's not going to happen.
Reaktor (almost abandonware) is a way to get similar results. (Chet Singer and a bunch of other brilliant Reaktorizers).

Ha - I forgot about that thread.
I posted a screenshot of some of the Tassman modules towards the bottom of this page:
viewtopic.php?t=564421&hilit=Tassman&start=225
That was over a year ago though, and I forgot about it because the thread evolved towards food.
And about Reaktor - I've got it, but never got along with it well.
Most of the things I tried to get it to do were beyond my abilities.
I think CV3 will suit me better.

I may be interested in this. I want to see what's the max number of poly voicing, and also if there's.. poly unison.

Demoed, Underwhelmed. Its so far behind VCV Rack I just cant see why anyone would bother TBH. It looks like software from 10 year ago, sounds OK but such a vanilla set of modules (even in 3) that it now just does polyphonic vanilla.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Thankfully new physical modelling things come out now from other devs that make up for it.
Crazy that they seem unable to find new developers to breathe new life into the basically fantastic groundwork. Just layering ages old modules like in Chromaphone3 doesn't cut it but kills the CPU just fine.
