I just found out about Speedrum a couple of days ago and after playing with the demo for a couple of hours I must say this is such a FANTASTIC plugin!  I've been using NI Battery for more than 10 years and I've always been frustrated with the fact the GUI can't be resized, the lack of a mixer, the way RoundRobin feature is implemented, and many other issues. That's why I'm sooooo happy I've found Speedrum! :hyper:

There are a couple of things I would love to see implemented in the future updates:
- an EQ and a limiter on the master bus. These two would be extremely useful.
- more than 16 layers per pad, preferably 32. There are many situations where 16 layers are not enough. For example, if you want to load a snare drum that was recorded with at least 10 velocity layers and at least 2 round-robins per velocity you would need 20 layers per pad, and if there are 3 round-robins per velocity (which is quite common) you would need 30.
- mute/solo buttons placed on each pad (like in Battery)
- a convolution reverb and a high-pass filter on the current algorithmic reverb
- a loop playing mode (like in Battery) for each layer, with the possibility to set the in and out points and the type of loop (forward, backward, "ping-pong").

Cheers!

About solo/mute, buttons are not there but the function is. And maybe other mentioned things.
From the manual:

"Shift + left (right) click on a Layer will mute (solo) selected layers (same behavior as on Pads)."
Exclusive solo has been already requested.

Yes, I know shift+left/right click will mute/solo a pad, but there are times when I don't have both hands available, so having two small buttons for solo/mute on each pad would be very useful. Also, when you need to mute/solo many pads it would be much quicker to just click on the mute/solo buttons placed on each pad instead of clicking on each pad (in order to select it) and then clicking on the mute/solo buttons that are now located on the lower section.

Thanks for the suggestions, some of them are already on the to-do list.

Regarding the mute/solo buttons on the pads, I need to think about that, because I have users who do live finger-drumming on touchscreens and that doesn't work for them at all. I'll see what I can do... for now you can switch to the SEQ page where each track has a mute/solo when you can't use both hands.
You can also select multiple pads with right-click drag.

Suggestion: A switch that toggles the visibility of the mute/solo buttons on the pads.
So we can have the most desired of both scenarios at the touch of a switch.
And please have this switch bound to a keyboard shortcut ;)

Yes, that was my first thought ;) But I also need to find a place for the buttons on the pad, it's already quite crowded... we'll see.

As far as I'm concern the missing solo/mute buttons on the pads is just a little nuisance, not really a big deal and I can easily live without those. What I'm way more interested are all those other features I mentioned, especially the EQ/limiter on the master bus and more layers per pad.

After using Speedrum for a while, just thought I'd post a few of my personal feature requests I'd hope to see;

> General Undo/Redo
> Browser Kit Autoload toggle (similar to option with samples)
> Some form of 16 level pitch feature (similar to Akai MPCs) for triggering pitched sounds
> Destructive edit with Overwrite Save (as option) for when wanting crops/trims to be permanent without opening external editor
> Ability to Play Slices (slice mode) from Midi Controller
> Ability to drag in up to 64 sounds in one go (currently dragging in more than 16/32 sounds (view dependent) ignores all sounds above 16/32)
> More controls changeable via multi select eg stereo/mono setting
> FX Presets (eg for Master Compressor)
> Compressor Gain Reduction read out in db. Current meter you have no idea if gain reduction is 1db or 5.
> MIDI learn parameter for record in the sequencer section
> Global Pitch control (vs selecting all samples first and adjusting pitch control)

Great work with Speedrum, it's almost perfect ;)

+1 :tu:

I actually find Speedrum nearly perfect at the moment—no need for feature creep. The fact that it’s lightweight and easy to grasp in no time is also a big plus.

Thank you so much! This is, in my opinion, the best drum plugin available for Linux! :)

(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)
