Which is still far less than the Virus TI

I like the Virus A DAC (20 Bit) because its slightly more crunchy. Then there is people saying that the B (24 Bit) is more crispy and that A & C actually sound almost identical. You see, we should talk about ADC right. :?

FWIW, TAL DAC with the EMU II preset sounds pretty fantastic on most synths.

This is true, even sounds good on Tal - synths. Great plugin everyone should have in his arsenal.

How about Toneboosters's Bitjuggler?

I would say BitJuggler recreates whats actually happening inside those samplers, which it does very good. So more similar to Decimort 2 than TAL-DAC which again is one of its own.

Another useful one would be Voxengo Shumovick to add some slight Noise - floor, as the DAC of the Virus does. So while subtle and already having high resolution, there are still some little things going on.

Are you telling me the Realtek DAC is no good?

Post

No sir. What I am telling you, is to plug the Digital - out directly into some posh boutique DAC and then pretend that you can actually hear a significant Difference, which of course you cannot. :?

If something like that hasn't happen to you then you're not doing it long enough yet.
It's a classic. :hihi: :phones:

It's literally just a computer running code that outputs digital audio that then gets converted by a clean and transparent DAC

It's because of this fact that the emulators work just by running the firmware and a GUI that emulates the control surface of the hardware
Yes, they can be emulated, but unless the precision, data types and data operations are emulated, it's pretty hard to get that sound.

It could be argued it took a while for pc based soft synths to get a sound that people thought matched the virus, and people still think the Nord lead sounds aren't really covered in software.

The Nordlead and Virus vst sound 1:1 like the hardware
