hi guys, when I use Diva and other VSTs i check about the polyphony or specific quality settings to save some memory etc.
but where/how can you check what might cause too much CPU overload/usage within Omnisphere?
I got some patches it seems which are sucking too much performance and i want to see if i can minimize it somehow and keeping the same sound or if i then have to export the layer(s).
thx

I optimized it by selling it to someone else and moving on. Haven't missed it once.
Good luck!
Good luck!

Its a killer sound quality kombo with Diva, best we've found
- Anyway, what is said here I also would strip some of the effects used in the patches away and see if could do without them or use external ones.

Exactly the same for me... best decision I ever made and to buy it before was one of the worst!vitocorleone123 wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2025 4:42 pm I optimized it by selling it to someone else and moving on. Haven't missed it once.

I always thought, so much how this thing gets hyped I would miss something...silly me!

I feel this way about Native Instruments. The only thing about Spectrasonics I find is to simply never admit to having/using it in public/online conversations. IME; There's definitely something cognitively distorted with the greater majority of their customer base. And I can't really blame the company itself for that. But I get the impression time and time again that NI has a delight in manufacturing a schadenfreude and that they hire according to their employees involvement to some BDSM.Trancit wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 2:28 pmExactly the same for me... best decision I ever made and to buy it before was one of the worst!vitocorleone123 wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2025 4:42 pm I optimized it by selling it to someone else and moving on. I think you're behind the times. These days, the greatest cachet comes from those who don't use Omnisphere. Even in threads where a user ass for tips, they're here, puffing up their chests about how they don't use Omnisphere.BBFG# wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 5:47 pmI feel this way about Native Instruments. Hundreds of synths to use and enjoy. Don't use the ones you don't like. Simple!

See, that's where the distorted discourse often starts. It's not that Spectrasonics are the best or the worst, just that it can still reasonably be used along with other things. The cult personalities that so often gravitate to it solely, always have a problem with those that see it as just another tool and not the magic amulet that fulfils their being. So it may be a natural response by others to dismiss and deny it as such and at times, do so vehemently. It is a product that begs the "middle path" of pragmatism.

Top ten things people post on synth forums they think makes them look awesome and sound cool (in no particular order)
1.)Hatred of a Company that starts with a B
2.)Hatred of Omnisphere/Spectrasonics
3.)virtue signalling about how you don't buy clones and how that makes you morally superior
4.)virtue signalling about how you use the fruit companies computers because "it just works" while living in fear the next OS update doesn't break your software so they stop working
5.)bragging about being "Dawless" while using hardware sequencers and multitrack digital recorders/mixers that recreate the functionality and workflow of DAWs and have computers inside of them
6.)proclaiming your hatred of iLok and why you never use it
7.)talking about the need for a tactile experience with knobs and faders but being to lazy to program a controller with knobs and faders
8.)taking about how superior you are because you use CLAP instead of VST3, and how crappy Steinberg is for suddenly dropping VST2 support with no warning 16 years after VST3 came out
9.)Complaining that a plugin that sounds 99% like the hardware that no one could A/B in a mix sounds nothing like the hardware
10.)making top 10 lists on KVR
Omnisphere is just a tool, nothing more and nothing less. Like many Sample/Rompler based Synths with built in effects that make deep layered patches if you create a bunch of layers in your patch you are going to use a lot of CPU. The same goes for UVI Falcon, HALion7, etc
So use the fastest processor you can, make sure you have enough RAM. Optimize your OS for audio production. Keep some available free space on your hard drive, keep your drivers updated, say no to drugs, get a haircut hippie, stay in school, and don't date musicians or groupies. Use Tylenol for headaches, Midol for cramps. Wonder how Pepto Bismol can work for both diarrhea and constipation?
And one final bonus
11.)Go off topic in a thread complaining how people are off topic

Yes! It's just a tool. It has advantages and disadvantages for some/many/different users. And if this were another "What do y'all think of Omnisphere" threads then it would be fair game for everyone to share whatever opinion they wished. I just think it's super lame to post such opinions in this type of thread.BBFG# wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 6:12 pm See, that's where the distorted discourse often starts.
