Definitely no. But that’s just me. Drums which I synthesised myself absolutely and yes on the bass.
Other than that I rarely use compression these days.

I am not doing much compression but I am doing a lot of sidechaining.
Typically I will put a multi band compressor, only activate low end band and side chain it to the kick for example.
Can be a multiband compressor or an EQ by the way.
