Can you see sell-buy section if not member? IIRC, some sections of forum are off-limits to non-members.

You can see it if you aren't logged in, so no account required.Dirtgrain wrote: Wed Feb 26, 2025 12:06 am Can you see sell-buy section if not member? IIRC, some sections of forum are off-limits to non-members.

I don't think these are people outside the KVR forum. Email notifications would be the quickest way to check for new posts. However, some people must be on the lookout and have some quick way to register. A few minutes is enough for several keys to disappear.

I wouldn't be surprise if a reseller has a bot watching Jirka108 every post

I think there's two bots here. The one that writes how evil resellers prevent honest people from snatching the free codes.kendalminnis wrote: Wed Feb 26, 2025 1:33 am I wouldn't be surprise if a reseller has a bot watching Jirka108 every post![]()
And also the one that asks from time to time if those codes are legit. They work as a pair. Allways on the alert.

Maybe we need a limit to the amount each person can conduct sales per year? Such as you can sell maybe 5 things a year. After that you need to pay Ben a fee. I'm not sure how that'd be enforced though.
But a foundation to go after resellers wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, in my opinion. If you're selling more than that a year, each year, you're probably a reseller. Or you need to consider your purchases better before buying...
Because I do very often see the plugins, that are gifted by companies, immediately after on the marketplace for fee once the gifting period is over. Some people must accrue serials through various email addresses then spend all year selling them for a tidy profit. But that isn't in the spirit of the gifting.

In the past KVR has always been a staunch supporter of intellectual property rights since this entire site is dedicated to the creation of....intellectual property.av_ wrote: Wed Feb 26, 2025 1:56 am And also the one that asks from time to time if those codes are legit.
So questioning the legitimacy of any codes is not unreasonable. There is no way to know if the company providing the codes is fine with them being shared to others who did not make a purchase. I have always been opposed to the gifting of codes earned from the purchase of hardware and vehemently opposed to reselling those codes because if we abuse freebies there is a good chance there will be no more freebies for people who actually earned them by means of a purchase.
However in the case of Jirka his cause is so noble that I can not bring myself to oppose his sharing of codes. It's a shame that there can't be some corresponding contribution to his cause but these days you can't even get some people to give a simple thank you let alone a donation.
I would love to see someone curate his codes (unfortunately I haven't the time to do so properly) and dole them out to contributing members of KVR. In other words someone who has been active here and not just someone who is a lurker or day one member.
Jirka could PM a list of codes, the person who is curating them would then announce "5 licenses for XYZ plugin" etc then require a PM to actually get a code with the expressed condition that they are NFR (although there would be no way to actually enforce that condition) and perhaps a link to support Jirka's cause. Codes would only be sent to people with some agreed upon time of membership at KVR. Say six months or so.
It would be a lot of work for the person curating the codes but that would also be a noble cause although obviously a lesser one than Jirka's which he posted many pages back and I won't repeat due to its sensitive nature. Search for it if you are curious.

There is a person who's doing one right thing and then another thing by sharing here those codes with us. Which is also a nice thing to do, he could just throw the codes away. The same goes of course for other people who get codes they don't need with their purchases and share here. People just sharing stuff is a good thing. Right? Wrong. Let's regulare everything. Let's create a committee to dole out the free codes that people share. Jirka108 for one will be really happy to participate in that, I'm sure. You see, people from former USSR know what it smells like. Google what "kolkhoz", or "collective farm" is. That's what the soviet economy and ideology was all about. Someone produce goods, someone else then decides how to dole them out among the others. Nothing good can come out of it. And preventive measures like that won't stop any dishonest people like resellers, they'll find a way. They allways do. It will only make it worse for the others.

WOW.
how about Jirka108 just create a free post in this forum instead of cluttering this particular thread with codes. it defeats the purpose of this long standing thread. when so many codes are posted then gone in seconds it's frustrating.
I purchase the software and plugins that I use, when I see a code and try 4-5 and they are all gone it's frustrating, and it's frustrating more and more people, I know this because of the posts in this thread.
whole thing is off the rails and I'd rather not see it, though the thought is a kind nice one, it's causing disruptions
