Why is it? Its not like I could accidentally edit velocities I didn't want to for any reason. It is a completely redundant, unnecessary step. It doesn't make sense to select multiple notes just to be able to edit them individually and is inconsistent with the behaviour in the notes area of the PR where adjusting the length of one note affects all those selected.jens wrote:crtl+a or lassoing/multi selecting - it's up to you what notes to edit... - this behaviour is clearly far superior to always being able to edit the velocity of all notes

Double-clicking is even more annoying. What function does a single left-click serve in the PR that is more important, or performed more often, than entering notes? Just because you're used to it doesn't make it good.jens wrote: Bones mentioned - e.g. he complains that you have to use a keyboard shortcut for inserting notes in the piano-roll although you only need to double-click.

I would prefer to be able to input notes by a single click and drag without the Alt combination.
I know the single click drag was reserved for lassoo selection and I'm not sure I know what the best compromise is, mode switching perhaps? An Alt+Click for selection instead? YIKES - that won't be popular either.
I'll survive with the double-click option for the moment I think rather than getting a headache trying to think of a better way.
Hell I sometimes even use Alt+Click+Drag for note entry.

I wouldn't have known to ALT-click except that its explained that way in the beginner's guide. Before I read that I had no idea how to do the simplest thing - enter a note in the piano roll. Why would I even think to double-click or ALT-click?Sicklecell666 wrote:I have an impossibly hard time believing that this actually needs to even be said..jens wrote:just as I wrote: simply double-click in the piano-roll...

Exactly! eXT and Cubase have something in common, it seemsBONES wrote:Why would I even think to double-click or ALT-click?

BS, you are twisting the issue.jens wrote:who thinks a simple double-click is too much of a hassle imo shouldn't be let near any computer at all...
When you do something for hundreds of times, small things like that gather quite a bit of weight.

Imagine you recorded a typical piano-pattern. - the bass with the left hand and chords/melody with the right hand.BONES wrote:Why is it? Later on while mixing your song you notice that the bass of the piano is too loud. - now you can simply open the piano-roll, lasso only the notes you played with the left hand and quickly correct the velocity.

you can edit all note velocities by not having any notes selected, simple.
if you have any notes selected, only those notes velocities can be edited.
Your annoyance probably stems from having the last note you entered stay selected, so just click on empty space in the piano roll to deselect all notes.

Adjusting the velocity of one note does affect all those notes selected. In that way I would have said it was perfectly consistent with the note length in the piano roll.
Am I misunderstanding the complaint?

- when you need to insert several notes at once then you should use the composer...

you could do it like this, or of course you could just use the composer instead, dickhead!BONES wrote:]
What if I want to go through note by note and slightly randomise the velocity of each note [one of my favourite and most use modulation tricks]? Select one note, change its velocity. Select the next note, change its velocity. Select the next note, change its velocity. Select the next note, change its velocity. Select the next note, change its velocity. Select the next note, change its velocity. Select the next note, change its velocity. Select the next note, change its velocity. OK, that's the first bar done. Move on to the next bar and repeat. Great f**king workflow that.
