It's showing as $29 for me.

If you're in the EU then maybe they're charging you 29 euro instead, and converting that to USD?

$31.34 here in No(r)way.

I think that is a hiccough on the PB site. Here (in the UK) the upgrade price is £29 (UK pounds) or $36.48 or €35.68.

It's so strange anyway. Will be better to purchase it for the price which was announced

I guess it's cool it'll be a plugin wrapper/host

Maybe the quality of my morning coffee is bringing me down, but the more I watch the teaser videos of Scaler 3, I feel it's getting way too complicated for something quite simple. I'll most likely buy it on release, but where Scaler 2 made my head spin, Scaler 3 make my head even spinnier.

I'm with you, man. Was using Scaler 1 often cause you could come up with nice chord progressions easily. Was thrilled to see Scaler 2 but I stopped using it pretty soon afterwards cause it felt to overwhelming and complicated in a way which Scaler 1 just wasn't. Scaler 3 now brings even more to the table...
I might just install Scaler 1 again and happily pump out nice chord progressions in no time haha. All those additions in Scaler 2 and 3 might actually be super useful to someone who's doing Scores or big Orchestral music, but for me who's just looking for simple chord progression which work it's just too much.

Yeah I'm not sure either really on the feature creep, on the fence part of me thinks it's cool they're adding all this functionality but another part feels like it would be better if they just focused on making the scales/chords/strums/arps as perfect for end user as possible instead of adding extra features that don't really add to the intended purpose of the plugin

Post

The new features are cool, but honestly what appeals to me about 3 is them reducing the amount of clicks to access chord variations. I haven't seen it in a preview video yet but I hope it still has the fretboard visualization.

I'm also a bit skeptical, to be honest. I'm starting to get DAW vibes with Scaler 3, which is quite far off from what I would want it to be: A simple tool to quickly create interesting chord progressions.

I don't need it to host VSTs
I don't need tracks inside a plugin
I don't need pre-programmed patterns

It's a pity that so much effort was put into something that my DAW already does for me. Still happy for everyone else liking this new direction, but I'm not sure if it's the direction that I was looking for personally.

I wonder if Scaler 3 will have an "easy mode" where it strips away everything except the bare essentials.

I'm on the fence about Scaler 3. Some of the workflow changes look welcome.

But I'm also getting the DAW vibe which is usually a no-no for me. I don't care about adding VSTs and just seems like the kind of thing that will inevitably have bugs and of course it may take time to scan the plugin folders.

I'd rather just have Scaler output the midi to my plugins directly, not load the plugins in Scalar and then have to replicate it when I drag the midi out. Just seems way too complicated.

I can imagine the tracks and patterns being useful as a means to quickly explore the chords I'm experimenting with. That's if they are really easy to work with and don't require me to use too much mental energy.

I'll upgrade when it comes out. Whether I end up using V3 who knows.

Post

For me the interface of Scaler 3 is a little oversaturated... seems that after version 2 I need to learn plugin again... not my cup of tea...

Post

Count me into the sceptic side as well...

All what I´ve seen where they were excited that something would me much easier and much more accessable I thought exactly the oppsite by just watching...

I have the impression they went in the complete wrong direction ... everything seems to be more complicated now but not easier...

And for me this is valid too:
I don't need it to host VSTs
I don't need tracks inside a plugin

I do like pre-programmed patterns though as an idea box...
