I'm really struggling to enjoy Triaz with it's many drawbacks. ..

I am interested to know what the drawbacks you mention are?
I've only been using Triaz for a couple of months and have managed to work through most of the annoyances I've found so far. I agree about the EQ however.

Did anyone pick up that new pack bundle? Any good? To be honest, they all sound pretty piss poor in that demo video, but I love everything else they've put out so maybe they're just bad examples

I do think their master bus effects tend to make everything 'samey', but i'll generally disable them and use my own. yeah there's tons of good stuff in there.
If you're strictly a deep house person or a psy-trance person then you might be wondering hey when's my turn, but i'm not really a 'genre' person,so i like that it's not so "insert genre name here" kind of thing. i think that anyone with ears and an open mind will find inspiration in amongst the 500-600 or so presets.
In Aus dollars, the bundle works out about $14-15 per pack, well, i think it's good value.
Quality sounds as usual. Good to have some output from the team. [raising ghoptu]

Just been listening to the new pack. In terms of value for money then I thought it would be an insta-buy because you're getting a huge amount for your £50. I generally think the Waves Alchemy supplied samples and loops are very good which is one of the reasons I was drawn to Triaz.

However, having listened to some of the demos I realise that there's probably about 10% that I would find useful and that's probably the same for everybody but will be a different 10% depending what you're into. That still probably makes it worthwhile but the one caveat is the amount of time it's going to take me to go through everything to find what I like. Doom scrolling through samples/beats isn't fun and I seem to spend too much time doing it already.

Surprisingly there had also been no official news about the expansion packs. Maybe they put things out (shop, youtube) before they do news and promotions. I'm hoping for some general Triaz update or roadmap updates, too

got an email about the expansions today (3 march), and just downloaded (will check them out tomorrow). triaz is great here, now my go-to for drums

EDIT: just a quick look, and there's a TON of great sounds in these expansions (i haven't checked out the patterns). but good stuff

The new expansion seems great. For me it seems just what I wanted - some more straight up electronic kits.

I felt the initial launch had a great range of kits but many had musical or fx types hits that make great loops, but are too distinct or have much of their own 'taste' (for me).

Drift was a superb expansion for that lofi flavour.

I think this new one seems a really solid extension to the initial release. Really good sounding drums as to be expected from Wave Alchemy. These do have some FX type sounds, but all the loops sound pretty solid without them.

Agreed here, great samples and patterns and for someone that's into these heavier electronic genres this actually sounds very good. Grabbed them too.

But I hope Wave Alchemy really think about their product updates again now and get back to communicating the roadmap properly: even if releasing these expansions is a life sign most power users would rather see them flesh out the actual instrument itself.

Huh? Their whole business is based on their excellent sample libraries.

Hats off to them for creating such a good drum machine. Of course they are going to create libraries for it.

Yeah I agree about the pitch based sounds in a lot of the beats, I end up just muting those tracks in the plugin so I'm not locked into the key and melody that is baked into the beat. I'd be fine if they just stuck to drum type sounds and not synth-y stuff with the grooves but maybe some people like those, I guess it can be a starting point for a song.

I have Drum Designer (UVI), XO (XLN), Playbeat 3 (Audiomodern), and Triaz. XO is immediate gratification and the king of librarian management. There is no doom scrolling through samples/presets with XO. Playbeat is best for glitch and ongoing randomness. Drum Designer great for granular editing. But Triaz? I don't know what it is, but I just can't get into it. It has flashy presets, but who is using preset beats for a song they actually want to release?!

I don't think anyone does. I see them the same way as the 10-20 first presets on any well-programmed synth. They are not meant to be useful, but inspirational and show off what can be done.

The preset beats are also very busy, so I would also see them more as a "demo" for the kit soundset, "show off" like DrGonzo said. It can also be a good starting point if you start removing things, randomizing or customizing. But yeah, I personally would have favored more like a pattern library of standard beats (like in XLN AD2) and patterns typical for a sound category. This only works well with a strong conventions of kit layout and not all Triaz kit follow conventions (most do at least in the core sounds, but some are way off).
