The "hate" NI is getting is unfair. The post the guy above posted that this dude did not like Reaktor blablabla is utter non sense.

He just likes the GUI of vcv . Reaktor sounds better.

Same like FM8 sounds a lot better than dexed.

I agree. People in general like to elevate certain situations to a level of hate. Yes, NI has worsened the efficiency of many of its products without actually improving the sound, and they also made a mistake (IMO) in discontinuing products like Absynth or B3, which are very popular among long-time users, but honestly, all companies (especially the big ones) have their ups and downs. Waves, Arturia, NI, Protools, PA, etc. have pages and pages of complaints on the official forums. Nothing has a 100% approval rating. However, these are companies that do have excellent and professional products. If you are not overly passionate, it is possible to get around most of the problems (natural in software development) and continue producing your music.

I like many of the NI plugins. Even more when they consistently worked (with or without certain quirks). Access is the exception that has exposed their failings and flailings though. And over the last few years, I've come to mostly hate the company itself. So they more than earned any hate they get. Not unfair to them at all.

I have a lot of 3rd party NFR libraries though. Which are the only reasons I hold on to any hope of them maybe getting back to being worthwhile. But to someone starting out, I will continue to recommend that they stay away from this schadenfreude of corporate narcissism.

Its all a matter of perspective and opinion regarding N.I. To me, theyve done nothing to garner hatred expressed by a few and they continue to develop new products that are truly different (Piano Colors) and improve old products like Massive. To me, the Komplete bundle is still the best starting point for a new music maker and the free Komplete bundle continues to be the best overall freebe in music production. Also at a time when the music making business is under pressure from AI and ongoing piracy, I'm not surprised that a group of leading companies would team up to better insure longevity. Again , this is just my perspective, I'm not going to go back and forth on this

Post

Naw. They aren't really free when there's strings attached.
I also believe that piracy is just a dog whistle to support their justifications of not being good to their customers.

NI killing off support to their older controllers is an enough to make people uneasy and avoid buying any of their hardware in case they reach the same fate.

Maschine MK1/MK2 support being dropped from the Maschine 3 software was a dog move by them considering they’re MIDI compliant and while we may not be able to use “newer” features on the Maschine 3 software, it would’ve been better if they at least let us use it to the same capacity as the Maschine 2 software rather than completely write the hardware off.

Sound_Bear wrote: Sun Mar 02, 2025 10:42 am HoRNet are having a huge sale until midnight (Italian time). Even the everything-bundle is reduced by 88 %, so you can get the complete product line for € 90.

It's worth noting that HoRNet do not use any copy protection on purchased plugins (only on demo versions). Download them once and keep them forever without hassle.
The 88% off sale does not include BalancEQ (which I wasted far too much time reading about and demoing before finding out at checkout).
BalancEQ is now on sale for € 14.39, and the 88 % discount has been prolonged for a day.

Before the previous period ended/ was supposed to end I checked again after reading your post - a banner on HoRNet's website was stating the BalancEQ exception clearly, as did the newsletter. Just mentioning it in case anyone got a bad impression of the company from this.
The banner about the sale at the top of the BalancEQ product page does not state the exception at all. The exception seems to only be indicated on the Hornet homepage https://www.hornetplugins.com/

Perhaps that's just an oversight, but it's annoying. I'd guess that very few people who already know which plugins they're interested in will bother going to the homepage.

hi,

Is this a good price for this, or has it been cheaper, like @ BF??

Some good points here, they have always represented value in some sense, to me as well.

As a balancer I'd say there may be grounds though for at least some very-deep-frustration, anger even, towards NI. Why? As an example there are blocker bugs for some of their flagship products, that were years old [literally]— and all the polite requests, protestations and threat of boycotts did nothing to accelerate any fix quickly enough.

That being said, I agree with others here that there aren't many 'perfect' companies out there.

It was working when I posted it yesterday. I just checked and the product isn't even listed anymore. Perhaps they ran out of serials? Sorry you didn't get the deal.
