Zebra 3 obviously has the new Oscillators from Zebralette 3. It also has a new modal module and the Z2 comb modules have been further developed.perpetual3 wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 7:28 pmDid not know that.pdxindy wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 5:25 pm Urs gave a Zebra 3 preview at NAAM, so we have more clues than just Zebralette 3.
I Osc and 1 Modal module only are enough to create a vast landscape of sounds. While Z3 is not a dedicated physical modeling synth, it is remarkable for modeling a wide diversity of sounds. The sound quality is outstanding.

I’m sure it is or will be. I didn’t know about those videos. Though for me personally I wouldn’t say those videos gave me more insight than using the lette 3.pdxindy wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 9:44 pmZebra 3 obviously has the new Oscillators from Zebralette 3. The Zebra 3 videos by Urs are indeed very technical and he's focusing only on the new, shiny, complex things he most recently developed and is fiddling with that. The average user would probably be more interested in the overall workflow and the basics - and he didn't go much into that. Probably because Zebra 3 will inherit much of that (conceptually) from Zebra 2 and from other u-he synths.martiu wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 8:19 pm seems like the new features are more towards experimental and score sound designers, bono looking for a nice saw wave should look elsewhere
The OSC is quite complex, but you can also treat it like a wavetable synth, just pick your curve set and you have your basics. Apply OSC FX and even with simple curve sets, you can already crazy stuff. I'm sure that filters + FX will be really good, as they already are in the other u-he synths and Zebra 3 will be equal or a step up from that.

It is okay synth with all the good stuff inside.martinjuenke wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 7:14 pm Another possible contender for the synth crown could be Pigments 8.

You don't even have to pick a curve set. You can use a single wave, add Osc Unison and a bit of detune. Then add a filter and done.Fannon wrote: Sat Mar 08, 2025 5:19 am The OSC is quite complex, but you can also treat it like a wavetable synth, just pick your curve set and you have your basics. If I get either, it would be Serum2.
Sound designer synths that require either just using someone else’s presets or diving deep aren’t for me. Tried and strongly disliked the new Zebralette.
