I also thought it was super light to begin with, but as it got updated it became increasingly unstable for me. I havent tried adjusting the downsampling but im on a newer i7 Thinkpad workstation with 48 GB RAM so it should not be necessary :-OIgro wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 12:44 pmSomethin is not right then. i've been running vital on mac os since the plugin was first released; i run the OS betas, (with logic), and vital has worked without issue all along. i use it all the time, still into itBartone wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 8:47 am Just my concerns.
I bought Vital right away when it arrived.
And I found it very powerful synth with nice features. But I didn’t have time and energy back then to make music and so I didn’t have time to really use Vital or spend time learning it.
Now I am getting back to more music making and the situation with Vital doesn’t seem very promising… I think it would work ok right now without any updates from the DEV. But if I need to change to MAC (now on Win), or how well it will hold in the future if there’s no more updates… It just get me wondering: is there any point spending time with this synth if it’s future is unsure.
It just doesn’t feel so appealing to take Vital and focus on it when I have these concerns. Maybe I am overthinking?

ahhh ok thxLargos wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:18 amIt's not an activation, the login is to download presets and check for updates. Probably the text to wavetable feature is linked to it but I've never used that.Caine123 wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:22 am what is concerning for me is that i bought presets for it and people still release preset packs for a product which seems to be abandoned/not supported by the dev, so if you got problems well thats it...
and how is activation handled? afaik if something happens you cannot activate it afaik...

There's a bugs category at the official forum, although dumb people post a lot of support issues there too, and nobody cares about feature wishes any more as they're not coming anyway.BBFG# wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 4:59 am Just to catch up on this all. Can someone post a list of the current bugs not yet addressed and what the general feature requests for its future are?

Vital at 2x oversampling eats roughly as much CPU time on my system as a heavy Phase Plant patch.Rastkovic wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 11:55 amOh, then you probably haven't tried Phase Plant yet. You are right, I tested it (just quick, with the Ableton Live cpu meter). But, the cpu usage goes completely nuts, when global unison is activated. I always use global unison.AlQuzMar wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 6:48 pmVital at 2x oversampling eats roughly as much CPU time on my system as a heavy Phase Plant patch.Rastkovic wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 11:55 amOh, then you probably haven't tried Phase Plant yet. On Vital, the cpu usage hits at the beginning of the chord the 17% very short, like a peak. It disappears, when 'Voice Override' on the advanced page is set to 'Steal', instead of 'Kill'.
Phase Plant - 8 voice patch - 11% cpu usage
Phase Plant - 8 voice patch - x4 global unison - 45% cpu usage
Vital - 8 voice patch - x2 oversampling - 13% cpu usage

He lied. Vital is abandonware. Too bad, this was a great bit of work, ruined by a bad business model.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:36 am
As far as I remember, the developer confirmed he was still developing it.

i continue to use vital regularly, without issue (and on the latest mac OS betas). if it works, i'll use it, and if one day it doesn't... i'll use something else. just like any other plugin...Weasel-Boy wrote: Sun Mar 09, 2025 9:12 pmHe lied. I just wish Matt didn't give up on it, as I'm sure there could've been some pretty neat revisions for it.

Pretty sure he spoke of illness (his or his family?) and comfirmed Vital was stil being worked on. Also seemed clear that the dev is not the 'daily update on my progress' type, and perhaps resents the pressure to have to do so. I suspect that the majority of the user-base uses the free version. If that is the case, I can understand why they perhaps don't feel beholden to others' expectations.Igro wrote: Mon Mar 10, 2025 11:13 amOk. Anyway, I could be wrong. Either way, if you want to prove that someone has lied then show evidence contradicting what they said. Extent of silence ain't that.
