Proof!?
Where is the proof that Vital is not abandoned?

Something in the last 6 months that indicates Vital will ever move past version 1.5.5 which by some accounts is still buggy. Not "he said" two years ago, something more recent.

If you're going to demand proof then you should be willing to provide proof.

that's like asking someone to prove that zebra 2, or any plugin that works and hasn't seen a recent update, hasn't been abandoned. if you make a contrary claim, the burden of proof is on you....

I can no more prove Vital isn't abandoned or that the dev lied than you can prove the contrary. But seeing as I'm not the one making claims, I don't see why I should be asked to provide any proof. If you can show me where I have made unsubstantiated claims I will either provide proof or provide a retraction.

I didn't make a claim but you've made my point very well for me, " if you make a contrary claim, the burden of proof is on you..

Someone claimed it's abandoned, he made the contrary claim that it is not so as you say the burden of proof is on him (or both). I simply called him out for demanding "proof".

All I know is that the version in my account is 1.5.5 which is the same as it's been for quite some time. I see no evidence at his company forum that there is any recent activity or talk of a new version.

So given the evidence I have at hand this is Schrödinger's Synth. Equally dead and alive.

But again based on what evidence I have it seems more dead to me so if you have evidence to the contrary then please provide it......

You claimed: "As far as I remember, the developer confirmed he was still developing it". So prove it or it does remain unsubstantiated. Find the quote you claim to remember.

Your "evidence" is no more valid than anyone who claims its abandoned. All we can do is go by what we see now and I see no indication of progress at all.

I found a quote from Matt from 2023 but nothing recent. So to me it seems more abandoned than under current development.

the claim that it's abandoned is the contrary claim; disagreeing with that is contrary to the claim, not the issue of whether vital has been abandoned.

either way, it works, people use it, make music, and life goes on. just as it does for serum users, zebra 2 users... sylenth1 users.

i did enjoy the schrödinger's cat reference tho... :D

To be honest I've spent more time in this thread today than I've spent using Vital in the last year or so.

It's a nice little synth but I've got so many great synths in my collection that I don't really need to use a plugin that still has issues as reported by others on his forum.

To me the only unique thing it does is the Text to Wavetable feature which can be a bit gimmicky after awhile.

I'd love to see development of Vital resume since it had so much promise but if it doesn't then....Meh, no great loss.

As soon as Serum 2 is out you’ll probably see Vital 2.0

The text to wavetable thing has always been underwhelming to me but is certainly unique. I do like some of the spectral modifiers and phase distortion things, and also the resynthesis option, but like you, I've got so many tools which are still actively being developed that I essentially never both with Vital at all these days...

This is the sort of sound I use the Text to Wavetable function in Vital for.

Are we 100% sure that Matt is working on Serum 2 or is it just urban legend? As someone else asked earlier...."Proof?"

I asked you to share your quote first.

I found the quote I mentioned on the Vital forums. I'm not going to waste time looking for it again. What I didn't find is any recent activity from Matt. I'm not saying there isn't any activity elsewhere such as Discord which I find to be utter visual chaos just that I have not found any recent indication that development of Vital is ongoing.
