Nice that the Devs made a video responding to peoples concerns. I appreciate the effort.

However, the video misses one use case. Can I have a multi-track arrangement in Scaler 3, and drive multiple instrument tracks in the DAW?

That is without loading the plugins into Scaler and without first exporting the multi-track midi.

I also wonder if Scaler 3 supports CLAP plugins as well as VST.

Yes, in the video he briefly shows it has multiples midi and audio outputs. unless I'm missunderstanding.

It's extremely capable, damn awesome actually, but too damn good for its own sake. Too many functions :wheee:
Scaler 3 looks like it's made the complexity more accessible. Have to try it first of course.
Yeah you are right. You have to try it first.

... before we pre-order? Don't think they'll let us.

Which is a bit of a blazing red flag (since the sale only seems to apply to preorders)....

I don't know if it's a red flag or anything like that. It's not like this is the only time it will be on sale again. Maybe being a bit patient is the key here. That way any new version bugs might be squashed as well.

I don't see any red flags with Scaler 3.

Scaler has always struck me as a being a passion project for Plugin Boutique. Ridiculous amounts of updates and some of the most comprehensive tutorials for any plugin ever.

It's easily the most comprehensive chord based theory tool around but there is definitely a learning curve if you want to go beyond basic chord sequencing.

I'm looking forward to trying V3. They spent time with thought to the workflow which I appreciate.

This is a HUGE money maker for them. Not anything about the product or PB but this is NOT a passion project. If so, every update would have been free.

Bitwig is my DAWs and UHe and Tracktion Synths are my Bae. I maybe buy one synth a year. REMEMBER SELF just one synth a year!

I don't know. I've been getting free updates for Scaler 2 for years and years now.

I paid $20 for Scaler 1 to 2 and now $29 for Scaler 2 to 3. That is $50 of updates

There's a difference between updates and upgrades.

Updates are free.

Upgrades are paid.

Scaler 2 was released in 2020.

There were about 27 updates in those 5 years.

Most of the smaller updates included content like more internal sounds and chord banks. The major point releases included major feature updates as well as extra content.

If that was Izotope they'd be charging you at least for every point release.

There's no question in my mind that Scaler is something that Plugin Boutique are proud of and offers serious value for money.

It's a HUGE money maker for Plugin Boutique exactly because they've been so dedicated to improving it an making it arguably the best theory tool around.

It's not made by Plugin Boutique. Scaler Music is a separate company. Davide from Scaler Music wrote, in response to questions about Plugin Boutique's pricing, "We can’t control what other companies do display or how they display but they are our prices."

And yet, PB is the only place besides their own website you can buy scaler from and it has been that way since its release. As much as plugin world has its bad players, neither Scalermusic, nor PB seem to be those in regards to the future of Scaler, the update policy of Scaler, or the pricing of Scaler.

The plugin has been often on sale, sometimes less than 40 dollars, which, compared to its competition, but also looking it the sheer amount of features it offers, is one of the best values you can get in a MIDI plugin. Why is everything a conspiracy?
