Probably I will wait the sale and will upgrade from Cubase Pro 13... This update is really major for me.

For those looking for modular effects, I'd like to point out that Zebrify /fx only version of Zebra/ (with the Massive Modular skin) has become much more usable now. Previously, setting up the built-in modulators wasn't very user-friendly since you couldn't see either the movement or the source, but now it's awesome!

Cubase 14.0.2 has dropped with some bug fixes and a few features. Improvements to the sequencer and it has phrase detection for its volume quick editing that is really really really cool if it works. few other things

If you understood how much time and effort goes into creating skins of that complexity, where they're starting over entirely from scratch not just changing graphics (it's all new graphics/design + creating a new script - and those scripts are thousands of lines of code), and compare that to the relatively low volume of sales for a skin, then I think you'd understand that $25 is not expensive. Trust me, I've done smaller skin jobs and the time on those really adds up. Let alone something as complex as what Plugmon does. It's not easy or fast.

You don't have to buy it if it's too expensive for you and your situation.

Indeed but as someone who does not use Score nor the pattern editor, this is only a small maintenance update. It does not fix many of the 100+ requests made on the Steinberg forum.
But it's a step forward for what is anyways an exceptional DAW.

The automation support in DAWProject is very important, it has been completely unusable so far
DAW Project
Import and export of automation data is now supported.
We have improved the compatibility for file names containing special characters.
The plug-in state of FX and Group Tracks is now imported correctly.
Routing from third-party DAW groups to Cubase’s group track is now imported as expected.
Event colors are now exported correctly.
Audio clip offsets are now exported correctly.

Okay, $25 for a skin is a bit much, but there aren't many well-designed and usable(with quality algorithms) modular FX plugins on the market(especially one where you don't have to manually patch for routing.). I also have some issues with how Kilohearts looks, even though I like it otherwise. Still, it's worth it for me (Soundtoys is similar in this regard, but its routing is nowhere near as versatile)

The only issue was modulation because you couldn't see at a glance what was being modulated and by what. But that's now been solved.,.And I assume the creator isn't doing this full-time but sacrificed their free time for it, so I'm happy to support

And those 100+ requests, only get looked at if people are providing proper information along with crash dumps so the devs can look into it. Half the posts there complaining about this and that, never even bother opening support tickets, they think that forum is an 'official' support forum and get mad when Steinberg reps don't show up. We're lucky, occasionally the devs get some time to come play around and will chime in, but that board is for user support, it's not the official support channel.

I skipped on Cubase 13, but I have to admit, 14 is looking really tempting to me. The drum track, pattern editor, modulators, and new delay and reverb plugins look really nice.

Post

I thought C14 was money well spent. It all added up to very useful upgrades, and I've been surprised at how much I like the drum machine/drum track thingy (though creating new patterns is a bit clunky IMO - would have made sense to treat them exactly the same as midi parts for copying/pasting/repeating etc). TBH I thought C13 was going to be good, but ended up being a dud and I wish I'd skipped it too. The only useful thing added for me was the vocal FX/comps.

Post

I am also still on Cubase 13. 14 is great, but I prefer to wait more stable version. So waiting the discount for the upgrade.

Post

It's worth tinkering with C14 because of the programmable modulator—that's a real step forward. Back then, I threw in the simplest script, the velocity-based modulation

This is pretty awesome as it is, not everyone needs Bitwig-level 'let's see how deep the rabbit hole goes' modulation. This is still not the golden middle ground, but it's getting close.

What the hell is all the 'Gush' about? Maybe some features are cool but not at the expense of such stringent system requires... 8 GB RAM Minimum?!... for what, heating your home? This is 250 times the requires for Cubase VST24 back in 1999 where the minimum was 32 MB RAM...

Cubase ain't got better it's just taking advantage of more powerful machines in a bad way... Cubase 14 if presented back in 1999 would be worthless because nobody could run it unless they waited 25 years...

We aren't even talking the other requires like machine speed, graphics drivers, etc...

Reaper is proof that modern DAW can be fulla features yet still tight....

Yeah brilliant, let's compare a piece of Windows 95/98 software to something 26-27 years later down the road. Don't like it, don't buy it, plain and simple.

Reaper might be 'light' but you'll still need the same type of horsepower if you actually use it.
