nice, a real JP is not so easy to emulate. Especially that feedback Osc. Nice job on the skin

Yes… totally agree. I did attempt to make some 3d wave tables but it doesn’t cut it. You would need to model the oscillator since it’s modulating based on pitch etc.vertibration wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 2:43 amnice, a real JP is not so easy to emulate. Especially that feedback Osc. In practice though it was never that useful for the type of patches we were aiming for anyway (classic trance). I think we captured the other OSCs well. And one of our filters sounded very similar.

What, new instruments? I think the days of anything "sick as hell" are long gone. It's just more of the same these days, variations on the same old themes. Anything worth doing has already been done to death.vertibration wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 2:41 amI like using things like Current and Phaseplant when I wanna build weird shit. Emulations though are really nice because its very easy to just crank out custom presets. I also know that some real bangers are coming out soon in 2025 that are going to be sick as hell.
I never wanna build "weird shit", I just want to make songs. I only play around with a new instrument long enough to decide if it's worth keeping or not. Once I decide to buy it, I make patches for songs, as required. I couldn't tell you the last time I just sat down and made patches for a synth. Actually, I can, because it's something I still do when I'm beta-testing VSTi, even though mine rarely get included in factory banks. But when you're testing, there are usually only a handful of presets and making patches is a good way of testing. So I have a dozen or two for the Synapse synth I'm testing but I made them a couple of years ago.
I looked at Current, even installed the demo, but I couldn't see the value in it. I don't think I've touched PhasePlant in 4 or 5 years. After all these years, it still needs better filters. They seem to insist on doing things their own way and their filters just don't sound good enough.

Sometimes those bread and butter sounds are just calling out for a touch of weird shit, maybe just 1% added weird shit.

Great demo video! Some really cool classic sounds in there. I may get it just for the xpander preset
I'd highly appreciate videos in this style for volume 17-19.

Quick question- is it possible to assign the FX in Ana2 to be applied pre-filters? Or vice versa- filtering post FX… Couldn’t see anything in the manual suggesting so…. unless I’m missing something.
Would love the ability to do this. Maybe in Ana2.6?
Thanks

That’s not really going to be possible since the filters act on the polyphonic signal. There would be a possibility in the future for the fx to act on either of one of the filters output… so you could have filter 1 going to “fx a” and filter 2 going to “fx b” or you could have a bypass straight from the OSX’s to the fx. That would certainly open up some extra possibilities.
I would need to have a think about how to implement it.

No worries Phil thanks for your reply. I was just thinking in terms of say Dune3 for example whereby it's nice to be able to adjust the signal flow to add things like saturation, bit crushing, distortion etc pre filters. Not essential by any means just a nice touch and I usually prefer the way it sounds by doing it that way round. I guess maybe a filter module added as an FX insert might achieve the same thing? But hey, I am just one guy and if it's not been a popular feature request then why reinvent the wheel kinda thing! It's a great synth alreadyPhil Sonic Academy wrote: Tue Jul 01, 2025 11:49 pmThat’s not really going to be possible since the filters act on the polyphonic signal. Also I think your suggestion is a good one with being able to route separate filters to separate fx

Maybe there could be per voice fx. I also hope that oscillator ring modulation gets added.Phil Sonic Academy wrote: Tue Jul 01, 2025 11:49 pmThat’s not really going to be possible since the filters act on the polyphonic signal. I spent some quality time with ANA 2 yesterday, (great synth) but ran into an issue. When using custom samples they are not being recalled when reloading a patch.
I did import the samples and saved them to the "Imported" folder and the samples do exist in that location.
However when reloading a patch the samples are not loaded. I tested on two systems (Win 10 and 11). I am running ANA 2.5.6 on both systems.
When using factory samples they are recalled so it seems like a file path issue or ?
Am I missing something somewhere or is this a potential bug? It's been a while since I've worked with ANA 2 so I am no doubt a bit rusty.
I do find that layering samples with VA Oscs yields some very pleasing results so this is an issue I would like to figure out. Can anyone else please check this out and see if you get the same results?

Are you using the VST2 or VST3 Plugin ?I am running ANA 2.5.6 on both systems
Which DAW are you using ?
What's the audio files format of the imported samples ?
SA support could try to replicate the issue and troubleshoot this further to see if that could be a bug, would be nice if you could post on our forums or shoot us an email with the above details and a step by step description to reproduce the issue. You can either post on the forums here ANA 2 Synth (https://forums.sonicacademy.com/c/plugins/ana-2/54) or shoot us an email at customerservice@sonicacademy.com (mailto:customerservice@sonicacademy.com)
