Hello!
I downloaded and installed Noisetar ("Noisetar Mac AU/VST M1 Monterey") on my MacBook Pro 2019 i9 Monterey.
The VST version shows and works in Live 12.1.5 but the AU version doesn't show in Live nor in Logic Pro 10.7.9.
Any idea?
Thank you!

Restart your Mac? Sometimes new installed AUs don't show up in Logic w/o restart.

Hello!

Thank you for your reply!

So I restarted the computer and relaunched Logic.

The scanning process took very long (much longer than usual).
At the end an error message came up : "Warning! Minimum supported SampleRate exceeded".
I clicked on OK and checked in Plug-In Manager and Noisetar was deactivated (reason: "crashed validation"). I tried a rescan of the plugin which took very long and which confirmed the previous crash.

Here is the crash report:

I'm not sure what's going on here. I've just re-run Noisetar AU validation on my M1 MBP running macOS Sonoma and it validates without a crash. But I also don't seem to see that "minimum sample rate exceeded" alert (I do remember seeing that in that past though). Maybe because I did the AU validation on the command line, rather than in an app?

Can you maybe try running this in the terminal?

Code: Select all

auvaltool -v aumu nish NUsi

Hello!

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, it's strange. I have 1000+ plugins installed and only Noisetar has this problem.

Anyway, I used the command line you posted and Noisetar seems to pass validation.

I opened the plugin in Live and it works!
I opened the plugin in Logic and it was still deactivated, so I chose "reset and rescan selection" and after a long while Noisetar passed validation. Nevetheless that error message "Warning! Minimum supported SampleRate exceeded" came up twice.

Towards the end of Logic Pro log there are these lines:

Render Test at 64 frames, sample rate: 22050 Hz
Render Test at 137 frames, sample rate: 96000 Hz
Render Test at 4096 frames, sample rate: 48000 Hz
Render Test at 4096 frames, sample rate: 192000 Hz
Render Test at 4096 frames, sample rate: 11025 Hz
Render Test at 512 frames, sample rate: 44100 Hz
PASS

while at the very end of the Terminal log there is this line:

Render Test at 64 frames, sample rate: 22050 Hz

and nothing else after it.

updating properties of AU Noisetar by NUSofting…

OK. Thanks for trying that again. It looks like it's largely working now for you then? The error message during validation is (I'm pretty sure, from memory) that the DSP code doesn't really support well the lowest sample rates that AU can go to. I felt that was an "acceptable" error at the time we built this (I'm just doing the macOS port of Liqih's work, which works well for the Windows plugin formats we support) because I can't really imagine anyone really wanting to do music production at such a low sample rate. But that was a while ago.

Hello blurk!
Yes, it works for me now.
Thank you for your support and explanation.
