But I think I'm a victim of my own unreasonable expectations here, because I'd got it into my head that this was going to be a Massive to Massive X type of evolution of its sound, but really it's more like Pigments to Pigments 6. Which is still cool, but it's basically still the same synth but with added features and refinements. And that's probably what most people wanted.
Is there that much difference between Pigments v1 to v6? I own it, but stopped using it around v3 or so. I deregistered it from my Arturia account in anticipation of selling it along with my V Collection licence. But never got around to selling the former (no takers, due to it always being on sale.)

I'd probably need to contact Arturia to get it re-registered at this point. Do you know whether Arturia imposed a paid update for any subsequent versions? I believe they were free for existing owners up until around v4 at least?

Updates for Pigments are still free.

Serum has had MPE support for ages. It is unchanged in Serum 2.
Well, it's something you'll have to ask, even if you don't need it, or use it, or even really know what it is. The question has to be asked for all new synths, it's the law (to ask about it that is). 😅

I assume this version is also NFR, and if so, no chance I’m buying it.

Enjoy though, y’all hardcore Serum fans.

True that. :?

In any case, I've always liked Serum's MPE implementation, because it's far more flexible than most. In addition to being able to mod timber, pitch, and pressure directly, you can take any patch with macros, activate XYZ -> 123, and boom. Instant MPE patch.

Also, I was wrong. There are a couple more MPE options in Global that are new. One to allow pitch bend to auto-map to X (very helpful), and an option to enable/disable bi-directional on X.

Wow. We managed 5 pages since release before this inevitably showed up.

Well there are three Serum 2 threads now so....

But he has a legitimate concern. A $189 ($249 after intro?) synth that can't be sold on is certainly something to consider before a purchase especially in the current global economic climate.

As much as I want Serum 2 I just can't justify the purchase right now as I watch my stock portfolio getting slaughtered again today. The fact that Serum 2 is NFR certainly doesn't help me justify the purchase.

Issues like NFR status, copy protection, CPU usage, cost to performance ratio, etc are all things to consider when purchasing any plugin and are all valid subjects for discussion whether they trigger someone or not.

When I launch serum 2 for the first time it is asking me to locate the presets folder. I found one in documents/Xfer but it didn’t like it so I can’t launch the plug-in. Can anyone tell me where to find it or is this a make your own folder for your own presets type of thing. I am on windows and just installed VST3 so I wasn’t asked for any install paths. Thanks.

In Cubase I remove Serum2 demo from the track, then reinsert it, another 15 minutes. Of course the sound I was working on is erased. But more testing time.. unlimited within 15 minute spans.

Been trying for over 12 hours and always stuck with same issue;

" I have disabled my firewall, VPN, Malwarebytes and tried multiple browsers but still no access to the plugin even though my account says it's authorized.
I have even deleted the authorization and when i authorize again it adds an authorization to my account but there is never a confirmation page that confirms authorization when the plugin links to authorization and instead the link always runs into the local host errors (different types) or site down etc. And again even though my account created a fresh activation the plugin itself is still asking for authorization and there is no means to try an offline activation "

Win 11 24H2 (up to date)
Bitwig 5.2.7

All resolution suggestions are welcome as I expect Xfer are overwhelmed at the moment

That's not at all helpful for new users. Not everybody in the world already has bought Serum or knows it that well. The webpage does not seem to mention MPE support at all, along with other key features.
