Audio input as modulation source

Hello,
Is it possible to use an external audio signal (from synth/guitar/effect/whatever) as a modulation source in MXXX? Would be lovely. One could, for example, wire up a wavetable synth's audio out as modulation source for these wonderful Melda effects and modulate the synth's wavetable for that wavetable distortion effect that is on fire recently.

Do you mean in MSoundFactory? That would be the typical place to use a wavetable. You can find GenerateCustomMod in the Generator. Then modulate the wavetable with one of the custom 1-8.

Sort of, I meant to provide MXXX with an external audio signal (from Vaporizer or Vital synths, etc.) that could be used as a modulation source for, say, MSaturatorMB (loaded inside MXXX), can it be achieved?

Well you can use sidechain, but I'm not clear on what exactly you want to do with it. Anyways global modulators can follow signals from feedback, so you just need to generate the feedback (without any Feedback module receiving it) and use it in a modulator in say Follower mode.

I would gladly further this topic on! In MXXX it's obvious - one should just use the sidechain and plug it into a follower module (or one of the global modulators).
But the question is: how could I modulate SoundFactory generators with an external source since there's no sidechain in SoundFactory?

You can not and won't be able to, sorry. There are MANY reasons for that.

That's sad news. Dear dev, could you please name at least three of those reasons for not implementing sidechain into MSoundFactory?
