jclosed wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 7:01 pm Well - I have a different problem. I own Scaler 2 that I bought on the Plugin Boutique website. I used the same site to upgrade to Scaler 3, and got the download and a "serial number". However - In stead of just using that serial number I now have to create a account on the Scaler website, and use that number to get the REAL serial number. Not something I like to do but whatever.

However - After creating a account I should get a mail message to activate that account. And you guessed it - No mail at all. I also controlled my spam box, but I have never received that activation mail.

So - Now I have payed for that Scaler 3, but cannot use it because I cannot get the serial number because I am unable to log in. I am already waiting for several hours now. I am not pleased at all, and wonder what the hell is going on! Why do I cannot get a serial just as I got with Scaler 2, and have to take all these extra steps to register?
Did you try logging in? (forget the email)

Yep - It said "Unknown email address". And it was that email address I registered with. So - I tried to use the same credentials again and simply redone the whole procedure again, and it seemed to have worked this time. I got the mail and could finally register, re-logged in, used the redeem code and finally got the serial. It has taken a few hours now, but it's finally done at last.
I have no idea how that first time registering went wrong, but it seems that all the stuff that I entered the first time was completely erased, so I could try again. It's very weird though.
But anyway - It all ended well, so no need to break my brains over the how and what of it...

I have spent much time with Scaler 3 yet, but i'm having a bit of the same problem that I had version 2. The plugin really directs you towards very diatonic, classic functionnal harmony sutff wich is probably great for many genres. I struggle to find a workflow that works for me. I want to have a more direct access to perhaps more unsual progressions, more modal sutff. The explore page is a step in the right direction. Is there microtonal/alternative tuning systems support? I haven't found it in my limitted time with the plugin. Any help would be appreciated
I make electronic music - DAW of choice : Live 12

Vst3 same problem...

The Privacy Policy has been updated, and now it specifically and simply says they will not collect sensitive information, period. No exception. So, good on them for listening to us and making this appropriate change.

They are asking for people to share their crash logs on the scaler forums. Sounds like a 3.0.1 patch is coming soon.

That's one great thing with Scaler, they always do loads of free point updates. I think I read that Scaler 2 had 95 separate updates, both big fixes and feature updates and from what Davide was saying, Scaler 3 won't be any different. The amount of new features added to Scaler 2 over it's lifetime was almost overwhelming!

Overall, I think Scaler 3 is excellent and I like working with it better than V2. There are a few rough edges, but the history of Scaler 2 makes me confident that those small issues will be addressed.

If you have the time, I'd love to hear you expand a bit on that. Why you think v3 is better.

Curious on what real users feel about it in use. Promo videos are designed to make everything look fantastic and effortless.

Sad to see an internet connection is required for this new version.

This is the end of the road for Scaler and me.

pdxindy wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 2:51 pm When did you buy Scaler 2?
I don't remember but that doesn't matter. If there was no free upgrade due to my purchase date then they shouldn't have said so in my account. (see image above). I would have been fine with that but what I'm not fine with is being mislead. All this time I've been anticipating the free upgrade today so this whole thing has done nothing but leave a bad taste in my mouth.
liquidsound wrote: Tue Mar 25, 2025 3:22 pm I’ve got the same screenshot but, of course, no free update for me either.
I’m not in the recent purchase “grace period” and “the glitch” is obvious.
I don’t need it and $29 would be a total waste.
Yes and I'm getting sick and tired of "glitches". It's no more than incompetence and apathy. Unless there are some repercussions for making mistakes then they have no incentive to stop making them.

At any rate I received an answer from Plugin Boutique support and of course they're not going to honor the deal shown.

So I'll simply boycott PB going forward. Too many other vendors out there and I can stop paying foreign transaction fees on every PB purchase. So all they managed to accomplish was to lose a long time customer with 13 pages of purchases in my account.

Like you I won't bother paying to upgrade Scaler.....moving on.

They f**ked up.

They changed all the images for the Scaler 2 SKU to include the "free upgrade" by default so it's completely misleading you when you see that in your account.

In case you have not noticed, according to their "privacy statement", Scaler reserves the right to extract personal sensitive data such as your political preferences, beliefs and sexual preferences etc. You can not opt out.

This to me this is absolutely repulsive.
I think Scalermusic has some explaining to do.
It says:

"“Sensitive Information” : Scaler does NOT collect or process Sensitive Information (e.g., political beliefs, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or criminal records), as it is not relevant to our services."

This is a standard declaration for compliance with EU GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) regulations.
