For me personally, the 'colors' page is a big timesaver since I don't have to click through as many menus to pull up chord variations. You still have to click around a bit since not every variation fits on the screen at once, but it's a big improvement in my opinion.

There are definitely things that can be improved (and I'm sure they will), but I think they're off to a good start with it.

I think scaler 3 would benefit from some randomization features in some places. I think it would be nice to stumble onto some happy accidents.

Join the community forum and suggest it. They have a great track record of adding user suggestions. If it's possible to do it within scale, there's a good chance it will be added.
In the meantime, just drag the midi into your daw and randomise from there?

There are the lightbulb icons that will generate suggestions for you. I'm not sure what the logic driving them is, so they may not satisfy the degree of randomness you're looking for.

patch 3.0.1 is live, notes from the Scaler forums:

NEW Chord Panel Display (shows notes and chords on MIDI input)
FIX Bound area not reverting to white keys when turning of Keys Lock | Chord Notes/Extensions/Scales Profile
FIX Crash when dragging multiple chords to Sketch Page when chords extend past row limit
FIX Crash when adjusting velocity of individual notes with multiple chord clips selected.
Improves stability

If you go to Sketch, you can generate variations of your main track.

It's way better than Scaler 2. Both in the previous features being more accessible and of course all the new features. The Arrange page is fantastic.

Thanks I missed that :tu:

This is the end of the road for Scaler and me.
My understanding is that connection is required for activation only, and not ongoing use. But I’m happy to be corrected if this has changed.

Yes, it needs someone else's computer in order to activate. If, in future, I need to reinstall Scaler 3 and that person's computer is no longer connected to the network, the software will be forever in demo mode.

As an owner of FXpansion's BFD Echo, I can assure you (from first hand experience) other people's computers do get switched off, eventually, rendering all dependent software useless.
eh?

So correct me if I'm wrong, but this plugin is pretty much unusable in Ableton since you can't have multiple midiouts (it's mostly ableton problem, but I would think some plugins might've found workaround for this problem)? The only way to have multiple sends to different instruments is to host the plugins in its own built-in wrapper in plugin itself or whatever, basically running the vst instruments within Scaler 3 itself.

I think the workaround for midiout problem in ableton is to shelf some cash and buy the blue-cat audios patchwork or something, but that seems like a very cumbersome workaround on this issue

It wouldn't be a problem if ableton had a midi filter, say a synth is receiving all the midi channels from Scaler 3, but I use some midi filter plugin to filter it only to receive midi notes from certain channel... nope, doesn't exist in ableton or max

Feature rich. But a workflow and usability nightmare.
There are two kinds of people in the world. And you're not one of them.

Apparently 3.1 will also include "Select All" and "Remove Empty Spaces" commands

The main thing I like about Scaler 3 so far, is how it always crashes, reminding me why I mainly use hardware now. :tu:

Seriously, tried it across multiple DAWs now, and can't even get anything going on the arranger page without it crashing. Quality!
