New here with Tracktion Waveform Pro. I just want to record more than one take for a track. Looking through tutorials and the manual, I'm not finding it. I am finding loop recording, but when I'm done doing that I don't see the little plus symbol on the bottom right of the clip to expand the takes, and I'm hearing previous takes as I loop through the new recording.
Also, is there no way to just create a new blank take without looping, and then record, and then select from the takes and/or comp?

Assuming you're recording audio and not MIDI? I don't think you can do take for MIDI, but I'm not sure.
You can select multiple audio clips and ""Pack Clips to Takes", so it's possible to comp after the fact.
Settings -> Advanced ->Audio Engine -> Mute track contents whilst recording

Surely there must be consensus by now...

Comp takes work for MIDI and audio.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

To record comped MIDI clips, you need to record in Loop mode AND you also need to set the Action for the MIDI input to "Overlay new clips, containing newly recorded MIDI" so that it doesn't just merge everything you play into one MIDI clip.
I don't know if it's possible to take multiple clips and turn them into a comped set. When I tried it, it first rendered them into audio. So either it can't be done, or there is a method that I can't find.
