It seems a good upgrade from v13. It is solid and the drums track is nice and easy to use.
However, the resolution that I'm using now (1080p) is not enough for Cubase! I need to switch to 2k resolution. Live 12 is great for 1080p, so not sure which DAW I'm going to use more.

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I've forgotten how the Steinberg system works having only used it a couple of times. When you say activate the code, does that mean using activation manager to register on a hardware device, or do you mean from the moment you enter the download access code into download assistant (to redeem the license)?mothra wrote: Fri Nov 08, 2024 6:48 pm If you sit on the code and don't activate it, the grace period doesnt matter at all, you technically don't have a Cubase license at that point. You get whatever version is the current one when you activate the code. If you would have done it two days before, THEN you would need the grace period to upgrade and you would have to update the license in the Manager again. Since you waited until 14 was released, the system just gives you 14.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

What's the issue with 1080p? I'm running Cubase 12 with this, but if Cubase 14 has problems with it, I'll hold off upgrading until I get a new monitor.EnGee wrote: Wed Apr 02, 2025 8:12 am It seems a good upgrade from v13. It is solid and the drums track is nice and easy to use.

There are no actual problems. It’s just not comfortable to work with. But IMO, it’s the best Cubase so far! Go ahead and upgrade

Think that's time to upgrade from Cubase 13. Cubase 14 is really good. Probably in the summer the sale will be with 50% sale... right now 30 but with the plugins.. honestly nothing interesting and big IMHO. For me the library for Halion is good and the Klevgrand looks nice....

Don't count on any sales coming up as a 'sure thing'. Keep in mind the sales rotate. The 'big one' this summer may turn out to only be for existing users to get upgrades.. The big black friday sale might only be for 'new licenses'. The sales are always for a specific type of license, and whether its your turn or not, nobody knows until the sale hits.Alexander_D wrote: Wed Apr 02, 2025 7:36 pm Think that's time to upgrade from Cubase 13. I tried all of the plugins that I could access (Artist not Pro) and very much meh. The Klevgrand cabinet thingy was very cabinety and the only one I kept, but tbh likely will delete. It doesn't add anything you don't already have in Cubase. That vocal aetherio thing gave me the runaround and I couldn't access it for free at all, though I'll no doubt get spammed as you have to sign up to try to access it. Chorus...meh. Pedals...meh (after giving me a long runaround to access it). Softube...iLok shite, not touching with a bargepole.Alexander_D wrote: Wed Apr 02, 2025 7:36 pm Think that's time to upgrade from Cubase 13. Cubase 14 is really good. For Pro users the Arturia plate is probably nice.
But yeah, good deal for upgrades. I considered upgrade to Pro, as I regularly do, but once again figured I don't need or want the extra bloat that Pro offers for another $375 or whatever it is. Modulators are the only thing worthwhile and probably not something I'd actually use much. All up...I wasted several hours f**king around for some free plugins that I don't want.

I mean, Steinberg didnt really have to do a damn thing for you, take it or leave it. That overbearing sense of entitlement everyone seems to have now must really keep some people awake at night eh?

Agree about Ilok plugins. I don't need them as well. But so many Ilok useres..so... I am Cubase Pro user, so, the most interesting thing for.me and the nice bonus is Steinberg Materials library. Regarding Arturia. Honestly I am.nkt the big fun of their Fxs. I was own full of them and sold... and once again - another application like Arturia central on the computer. Not my cup of tea...kritikon wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 7:46 pmI tried all of the plugins that I could access (Artist not Pro) and very much meh. I'm not familiar with these, the mentioned Metal and Ice library is just one of a (not included) larger set?Alexander_D wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 5:30 amthe most interesting thing for.me and the nice bonus is Steinberg Materials library.
I've just realised there are loads of content sets that I've not bothered installing, Mystic Spaces, Raw Ambience etc., on the assumption that they're probably bloat.

It's not a simple library. It's more like instrument for Halion. You can check the video on YouTube. And the price is 129 USD on Steinberg websitechagzuki wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 1:28 pmI'm not familiar with these, the mentioned Metal and Ice library is just one of a (not included) larger set?Alexander_D wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 5:30 amthe most interesting thing for.me and the nice bonus is Steinberg Materials library.

I left it. If I took it I might have been a little more appreciative, duh?mothra wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 12:51 am I mean, Steinberg didnt really have to do a damn thing for you, take it or leave it. But obvs I should be grovelling with thanks for the wonderful company they are, probably give them my first born. I bow down to their munificence for just considering giving me something I don't want, after all I've never spent a penny on Steinberg products in the 35 yrs I've been using them. Oh, that's right - it's regular and loyal customers like me who've actually been keeping them in profit since their inception and I should be sooooo grateful for that. I guess that overbearing sense of smugness must help some people sleep the sleep of sainthood, eh?
