I have 35 codes to spend within two months? I own approx 80 plugins and have to burn all codes now for stuff I don't use.

I am speechless...

additionally their transfer policy changed :

"You can transfer the plugins to other accounts 30 days after purchasing your license. This period is to prevent fraudulent activities, so we ask for your understanding.

For a license transfer, all you need is the following:

The email of the account you want to transfer your license(s) to
(the buyer's account email)
The fee to activate the plugin is $20 per license and has to be paid by the buyer."

so they're blocking sales of licenses somehow.

You're the person at KVR who I feel is best positioned to answer this question but with a tsunami of economic data coming in on a nearly hourly basis my head is spinning so this might be a stupid question....

Are digital products subject to Tariffs? In other words if you sell a software product made in let's say the E.U. are you required to pay tariffs on that product?

I assume any hardware that comes from a country that has tariffs placed on it will require you to pay the fees?

How do you see this playing out for the music production market in general going forward ?

On a personal note I can say that my budget for anything music related is at zero right now unless there is an absolute no-brainer deal that simply can't be resisted.

The US does not have tariffs on software products delivered virtually. Even if there ever are, there is no practical way for them to monitor and collect it on a B2C level.

Hardware over a certain amount is and has always been taxed. There is currently an extra 10% tax on goods imported from China that went into effect in February, up from 25% to 35%. The reason consumers haven't seen price increases is because the build costs are low and that extra 10% is based on the build cost alone, and thus is insignificant.

Heads-up about the so-called "Intro Sale" of TC Electronic plugins at Plugin Boutique: They are creating a false impression of lowering prices while they're actually raising them.

At Music Tribe's own website, e. g. VSS3 used to cost $ 99 plus tax for the last four or five months. At PB it's now "on sale" for $ 124 incl. EU taxes (don't know the US price) while the planned "regular" price is projected at twice that sum. Meanwhile, the price at Music Tribe has gone back to the old price of $ 199, which they hadn't had since November.

Of course they're free to changes their prices whenever they like or see fit, but to call this sequence of changes an "Intro SALE" is misleading because it's actually an "Intro Raise".

Although PB themselves frequently make misleading promises regarding their rewards system, I suspect TC are more likely behind this "Sale" concept than PB, because the last big brand intro sale PB had was actually extremely generously priced (Fuse Audio Labs, a couple months ago; Fuse are generally a very user-friendly brand).

TC are not a very user friendly plugin company. They no longer provide a download of the installer for the old version of VSS3 which many have said sounded better, which was way backwards compatible and which had a cleaner GUI that didn't look like a 1990s Star Trek console. Now they're apparently trying to make some late cash with not-so-well-aging products.

Personally I recommend buying Relab VS6000 instead. It's based on those coveted algos, has a much cleaner interface, and Relab's pricing with significant "loyalty" discounts is pretty reliable, without attempts at deception like the one above (as far as I know).
