Good presets are important to me.
As I just bought the All pack the PREVIEW is not relevant to me. But I like the feature.
ABX is enemy to GAS

Post

BTW, I would like to edit the attributes and styles.
There is this SynthMaster3Config.txt file which looks convenient to edit.
What would I have to do so that SM3 will load the edited version of that file?
This is on Windows, using the VST3.

Tweaker here, too. I mostly work offline, so I would like to be left alone by shopping and convenience features.

Great ideas! :tu: It would be much much better to see (and have access to) multiple modules at the same time. The workflow will improve massively. And yes, the keyboard could be much smaller. At the moment it occupies way too much real estate than it is necessary. I also really like the idea to have different sizes for the modules. :tu:

On another note: did you receive my email regarding the SFZ import issue?

Yes, those issues are fixed now!

I also noticed that the fonts were incorrect on MacOS, that is fixed as well!

Hi guys, update on the "Expansion Preview" implementation: Added a new button next to Local & Online called Preview. When you click on it, SM3 displays the expansion banks that you don't have a license for. (If the audio previews are not installed, SM3 will ask at this point to download the missing ones, and will download once you confirm). Then, it displays the preset names and metadata for that bank. You can move the mouse over the play icon(s) for each preset, and you can listen to the audio preview. Mouse click doesn't work on the previews so there's no way to load them 🙂

Does this sound good? I am also considering adding a Shop icon next to the bank name, so that if you liked the bank, you can click on the Shop icon and you are directed to our expansions page.

I started redesigning the user interface after receiving a lot of feedback on the UI/UX. Considering displaying multiple modules on the top row, and all modulation sources on the middle row. Still undecided about the bottom part, but will defin itely make the keyboard much smaller as it is not a functional UI element:

I am planning to provide UIs for each module in different sizes, sich as: Narrow, normal, wide. So that we can fit multiple modules on the screen as opposed to now: You can only see one oscillator, one filter and one modulation source at a time.
I think you're on the right track here. If a user wants to build an FM patch, it's generally helpful to be able to see both the carrier and the modulator simultaneously. And when building modulation chains, to have access to all of them without needing to page through tabs.

The biggest challenges IMO is just not having access to the oscs/filters without having to cycle through the tabs, and not being able to place the tabs in an order that makes sense. Also that you need a separate Mod to use for FM rather than using/reusing an Osc. If I want to modulate with a square wave and also add the sound of it into the layer, 2 separate objects are required. Is there some advantage to having dedicated Mods for FM versus just being able chain Oscs?

One of the big reasons for the success of Phaseplant and Serum is the usability. The minimal number of clicks required to build complex patches and the visual feedback while building patches is why these synths are so popular. Obviously it makes no sense to directly copycat other's work, but maybe borrow some if the usability paradigms from these tools and blend them with your existing design philosophies, and I think you'll end up with a much more useable tool for the portion of your end users that like to do sound design.

Hi Bulent - I was wondering about presets for the individual parts of the synth. There are some in SM2, e.g. a preset for the envelope settings, or the oscs, effects, etc. I know I can save my own, but is there a way you can add some of those into SM3?

I wasn’t sure if any of those in SM2 could just work in v3, who knows, maybe some would.
This is in SM2:

I love the presets in SM3 and have the all bundle.
I sometimes start from scratch but often look for something close and then tweak.
I also love to learn from presets.

If the preview-and-buy isn't intrusive, I have nothing against it. But like others, overshoppifying can make a plugin feel annoying.
If it is implemented non-annoying and optional, I like the idea to preview presets I don't own in context.

Cheers,

Tom

No it's not intrusive. Unless you click on the "Preview" button, you don't see/audition the banks that you don't own:

If you click on the play icon next to the bank name, you would be directed to our SoundCloud page for the expansion:

If you click on the shop icon next to the bank name, you would be directed to our purchase page (it's work in progress, should be live tomorrow)
