I wonder if it is possible to create a patch directly on a text file? I feel like AI could help creating patches from prompt like "help me shape a Z3 preset that sounds like an airy pad with a bubble sound and a bell's reverb tail", etc.
I tried with Chatgpt, which seemed to theoretically be able, but obviously it wasn't working.

I think it's incredible that a free plugin, and one that is meant to be just one part of Zebra 3, is becoming one of my favourite plugins. It's just so deep, sounds amazing, and hard to believe that this is just one OSC and no filters (but the OSC FX can do so much more than mere filtering)

Thank you for the list of patches and observations!firebolt41 wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 1:32 am Great progress!, from half of the presets playable in beta1, to 90%!!!. Are you testing arpeggiation/real world (4-5note) chord transitions on your minspec? that's where I see the outliers.
High cpu usage per track is fine (<3 render/freeze), but exceeding the 100% core usage mark nets dropouts and I can no longer record a performance with live monitoring.
We will probably spend quite some time on this in the second half of 2025. There's plenty of room for improvement in the Additive Renderer, which drives some of the presets you mention. And then there's also the CPU-specific optimisation that we unfortunately did not include in this beta (it is unlocked in internal Zebra3 builds, but not in Zebralette). Latter is also what may help the Additive Renderer, and some OscFX.
At this point it makes sense not to cut corners in the preset design or preset selection. If people experience problems, then their feedback is more valuable than if we pre-emptively made things look better than they are, e.g. by dropping CPU intensive presets or making compromises to bring CPU down.
I also hope to get some feedback on the suggestions I made in that video on page 1, as these help us pinpoint which parts of Zebra's codebase are most relevant for CPU load on a user's specific machine. It'd be great to verify if the Curve Math parameter has any effect for you on the playability of those presets, for better or worse.

Absolutely zero clue how to install this on Linux. No README in the ZIP file. Simply copying the .so file to ~/.vst results in "Installation issue: no GUI resources". Any pointers much appreciated.

We have a dedicated subform for Linux users. The topmost sticky thread should contain current information on installation procedures:prokoudine wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 11:30 am Absolutely zero clue how to install this on Linux. Sorry for the delay, I just sent it.tasmaniandevil wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 3:35 pmIf you can reproduce this, then please create a folder called u-he-log on your Desktop, then reproduce the crash, and send all details (operating system, host version and how to reproduce) & the zipped log folder to our support: https://u-he.com/support/#contactjtsterays wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 2:18 pm And it just crashed my DAW too, all I did was opening and closing Zebralette in the channel rack.
As mentioned in the first post of this thread, one main reason for this beta is to catch the remaining crash issues.

is this 32 bit or only 64 ?tasmaniandevil wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 8:13 am Hi everyone,
time flies when you're busy. And busy we have been.
While we are mainly working on getting Zebra 3 ready for prime time, we didn't forget its little sibling.
Zebralette 3 now comes in light and dark flavours:
Isn't it gorgeous?![]()
A note on the road ahead: right now we are focusing on getting Zebra 3 feature-complete before switching back to bug-fixing mode. This means that while we fixed a big load of bugs in Zebralette, we still have quite some way to go.
Please check the known issues section below to get an overview of the quirks you might encounter.
We fixed many of the reported crashes, but there have also been crashes we couldn't reliably reproduce. Thus, we need you to help us catch the remaining cases. If you encounter crashes with this new beta, please report them either here or contact our support (https://u-he.com/support/#contact). Ideally, keep a folder named u-he-log on your Desktop, then zip it directly after experiencing a crash (or any other issue).
If you created presets with the first beta, they might need some adjustments, as the envelope times have been extended.
Parameter automation might break in existing projects, as quite a few parameters have been added to the automation list.
Speaking of presets, the factory library is shaping up nicely, thanks to Viktor and Howard.
Definitely check out the included sounds. They're stunning, if you ask me.![]()
If you are on Windows or Linux, it's best to manually delete the previous factory library before installing the update, to prevent a mix-up of old and new presets.

As mentioned in the first post, your own presets might need some adjustments, as the envelope times have changed. The attack, decay and release stages are now longer.pjco wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 1:08 am Wondering if an older project that use Zebralette 3 beta 1 will sound different.

Do not manually move things around.prokoudine wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 11:30 am Absolutely zero clue how to install this on Linux. No README in the ZIP file. Simply copying the .so file to ~/.vst results in "Installation issue: no GUI resources". Any pointers much appreciated.
Once you unzip the downloaded file, open a Terminal window, cd into that unzipped folder and then run the install.sh file by simply typing ./install.sh and hitting Enter.
Then hit y to accept, and that's it.

Oh this is awesome. I love u-he.
I'm playing around with the new beta now and something weird is going on. If there's something loaded in the OSC FX1 slot, modwheel is controlling Depth but also cycling through the ModSource options. If I set ModSource to None, as soon as I touch the modwheel it automatically links to OSC FX1 and starts controlling depth and ModSource. Is this a bug or is CC behaviour very different in Z3 and I doing something wrong?
Also, assigning ModWheel to another parameter, like LFO1 Rate, doesn't work. The ModSource shows ModWheel, but doesn't go green (I'm in Dark mode) and the parameter doesn't change.
SOLVED: USER IS AN IDIOT.
I'm so excited for Zebra3!

so many cool presets to test, Zebralette is really incredible each new version !
Talking about that, any chance to have MIDI Lean for the next/previous preset button ? Could be useful !

Unfortunately I get the same instant crashdump with beta2 when loading the plugin in Cubase, as I did with the first beta. It does not crash in VSThost. Also, it is possible to continue to use Zebralette3 after the crashdump, but Cubase will behave accordingly when it detects crashes.
Only tried some preset. It still sounds incredibly good and interesting.
I guess you already know about this issue, but should I send the Zebralette3.log directly to support?

OMG. I mean, I was impressed with earlier versions of Zebralette 3, its stunning smoothness for what it does, the amazing editing possibilities and all that. But THIS?! I'm so stunned right now. I'm normally not a preset-surfer, but this has to be the most beautiful, most inspiring array of presets I've ever encountered in any synth. Honestly. I haven't been excited like that about a synth alone by its sounds in a very, very long time. But then playing this... I write a lot here, but I'm actually kind of speechless. It feels like synth-heaven. Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!
Congratulations already, honestly. It's been so long since a real revelation appeared among synths. Not some fancy novelty, but a real, deep beauty.
Okay, the moment I will start with properly designing sounds with it, I may say some other things, haha, one never knows, but for now:
U-Heck yes!
