True (according to several interviews, and late stories such as https://www.facebook.com/synthspotting/ ... 108383160/)

Perhaps, but not the case here. At the time JMJ was not endorsing brands or models. Other instrument, other album, you can find an interview about the Zoolook album where he says he couldn’t use the Emulator 2 because it was released after his recordings of the album.IvyBirds wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 12:49 pmI have the original pressing on vinyl there is no gear list on the original, that didn't come to the 2nd CD releaseSebAV wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 11:28 amYou’re right but the CD sleeve is wrong. It’s one of the faulty re-editions.
Originals can be found on the web (https://www.discogs.com/master/49172-Je ... e-Equinoxe). Anyway the kr55 was released in 79 while Équinoxe have been done the 1st half of 78.
And you are ignoring the reality that big name artists like JMJ would get pre-release gear ahead of the general release. Do you think the KR55 just appeared one day with no product development cycle? That Korg designed it in a day, manufactured it in a day, and then it was magically in shops?
Yes the KR55 was available in shops to regular consumers in early 1979 but had been in development for quite some time
Giving pre production units to famous musicians in the 1970s to use on records was like synth manufacturers giving preproduction units to social media influencers in 2025
It also provided valuable feedback to engineers to have working musicians beta test new hardware

In my pressing that I got upon release there is no gear list. In any case the record came out before the product officially launched why would a product that didn't officially exist, might never come to market and might not even have a name be listed? That would make no sensecrimsonwarlock wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 2:31 pmI have the original LP release, bought it around the time it came out, and there is definitely a gear list on the back of the sleeve. And there is no mention of the KR-55 (it lists the Rhythmi-computer).IvyBirds wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 12:49 pm I have the original pressing on vinyl there is no gear list on the original, that didn't come to the 2nd CD release

If a Synth Influencer today has a prototype synth and they use it on a released track are they going to break the NDA and talk about it
As a result the prototype wasn't listed on your gear list, but it was on later releases after the product launch when it had an actual name and people knew what it meant

But we are not talking about him endorsing anything or about the E-II. He obviously had no issues talking gear and what he usedSebAV wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 6:49 pmPerhaps, but not the case here. You are also ignoring that his engineer Michel Geiss was heavily involved and had prototype sequencers and rhythm computers that he built involved in the recording process. Why is so hard to think he would have had access to Korg's prototype drum machine

First of all, every LP sleeve picture online shows the gear list on the back. So if you have a copy without that, I hazard a guess that yours is not an official copy.IvyBirds wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 7:15 pm In my pressing that I got upon release there is no gear list. Besides that, if the sleeve doesn't mention it (as my picture shows), and there is no interview with JMJ where he confirms the use of a Korg prototype, you are just dreaming up stuff, or regurgitating something that someone else dreamt up.
By the way, I also have a 1997 released CD version, which lists the exact same equipment as the original LP.
CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, Moved to Reason and Rack Extensions exclusively (from Reaper and VSTs) several years ago.

Of course it is. I'm not denying they do what they do, just that it's not some vast conspiracy, it's just business. It's no different to a cook (or a company) making their food as delicious as it can possibly be or tobacco companies putting cocaine into cigarettes (which they used to do when cocaine wasn't illegal). And if you think they weren't going just as hard at it before 2012, when Candy Crush was released, you're dreaming. King had developed literally hundreds of games before Candy Crush, their R&D was focused on FB and mobile because they were losing customers to those platforms, I doubt it had much to do with making their games as addictive as possible, they just wanted to compete. Focus groups have been around forever and they are often designed and supervised by psychologists or people working in that field. It's nothing new.

When I buy software faster than I can learn to use it expertly to express a specific musical idea *in that moment* then I know that I am hoarding and making a creative flow impossible
