As some have pointed out, it's a bit difficult to do a purge when you have a lot of things that have found their way into a couple of half finished tracks. If I have downloaded something, it's likely that I'll find a use for it.
I'll also point out that I'm not going to purge anything that is part of a bundle if the installer is going to constantly nag me. At best/worst I'll hide it in my plugin menus.

Over time, I tend to replace old synths in projects with newer and better instruments so I don't tend to hang on to old instruments unless they are used in multiple songs. It's something I was forced to do in my hardware days so it's become a bit of a habit. Sometimes it's handy to have the original when I first load the song up but once I've replaced it, it means I can leave it off next time I upgrade my PC.
