Process.Audio, the team behind Decibel, Spicerack, Ripple, CompTwo, and other powerful mixing tools, is proud to introduce Protility—a precision stereo utility plugin designed to give audio engineers surgical control over phase, width, and balance in their mixes.
Protility is a comprehensive and free utility plugin, streamlining essential mixing tasks with precise tools for phase alignment, stereo imaging, and gain control. Whether you're correcting phase issues, fine-tuning stereo width, or managing mono compatibility, Protility delivers professional-grade control.
Key Features:
- Phase Invert & Channel Selection: Invert the phase of the left and/or right channels, link them for A/B comparison, and isolate or swap stereo channels.
- Phase Control: Adjust low-frequency phase with a first-order all-pass filter for precise alignment.
- Sample Delay: Delay the left and/or right channels independently or linked, perfect for stereo correction or creative widening (Haas effect).
- Width Control: Adjust stereo width from mono (0%) to ultra-wide (400%) with precise side-component enhancement.
- Mono & Bassmono: Convert the full signal to mono or mono only the low frequencies to improve bass translation.
- High-Pass Filter: Remove unwanted low-end with a 12 dB/oct filter, switchable to 18 dB/oct.
- Pan & Gain Control: Adjust panning with independent L/R control and fine-tune gain with ±24 dB range.
- Correlation Meter: Visualize phase relationships to ensure mono compatibility and avoid unwanted cancellations.
- Light & Dark Modes: Work in comfort with UI themes designed for all environments.
- Compatible with macOS & Windows
- Works in all major DAWs
- FREE to download!

How does this work? Does it rotate the phase by some arbitrary amount, or does it shift the phase by a set amount below an adjustable cutoff?processaudio wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 2:18 pm - Phase Control: Adjust low-frequency phase with a first-order all-pass filter for precise alignment.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Hey! Great question.
The Phase Control uses a first-order all-pass filter, which means it doesn’t just apply an arbitrary or fixed shift, it rotates the phase around a selected frequency.
For example, if you set the cutoff at 100 Hz, the phase rotation will be 90° at 100 Hz, and it will gradually move toward 180° out-of-phase as the frequency goes lower, and toward 0° (in-phase) as the frequency increases. So, it's not a brickwall-type shift below a cutoff, it's a smooth, frequency-dependent rotation centered around the selected frequency.
Hope that helps! Have fun twisting those phases!

I want to thank you a lot for that plugin and making it free is beyond appreciation. Shockingly there are very few similar tools and somehow I find them very useful, especially for multi-mic recordings or layering drums.
The other I often use is preFix by Variety of Sound (free as well), which is my secret weapon, delaying signals make so much more than equing people dont even realize.
Thanks again, its a very handy bunch of tools beautifuly layed down on great ui, as for now after quick tests it also sound great, definitely a keeper!

Love the quality of your plugins in terms of sound, BUT for me it also strikes a perfect sweet spot in GUI meets UX.processaudio wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 1:56 pm Hey! Great question.

This is cool and especially a cool freebie. So far, I have been using DMG TrackControl for tasks like this which is very similar, but Protility has a few really nice extras like a lot for which I would have to use additional plugins. It's also looking really nice and is easy to use.
