In other words, if you still have the V-Station installed today, you're "lucky"... but if you buy a new computer, the plugin is dead for you?
You can install it anywhere you want If you already have the unlock key they gave you when they made it freeware.

The problem is that you can't get the final unlock key anymore unless you know someone who has it.

It is also very tiny on 1440P and would be even worse on a 4K Screen so i hope that GForce will Re Release it like they did with the Bass station.
No matter what you do, if you install it on any system where it was not previously activated it is basicly dead in the water, whether you got the key or not.. the final activation is dead
No.
The last authorization Key they gave you with the last version of V-Station when it went freeware works on any system new or old ;)

I Installed it on my system to test it and I had A AMD 5700X setup when i got the final license key and i am now on a Intel Platform with a I7 12700K and it activated without any issue when I used the load key from file option and loaded that license file into the V-Station.

Maybe it can be that i got and installed the last paid version before they released it as free ware. But as far as i can recall you still had to activate it with their servers to unlock it and i never got an "offline keyfile" to activate it, it was all done online. Even when i asked them for a generic offline unlock key because i had a commercial " paid for" licence and a novation account they refused refering to compat8bilty issues with future operating systems which was just utter nonsense because i am a windows user and my synth was working fine with windows 10.. sometimes developers are just spiteful

Maybe check Who the user is.
The freeware license key I got from Novation around 3 years ago shows Bob Wood as a user and i see someone else also discovered the same when i searched on google when i tried to figure out why they used that name in that license :)

You can find the user info when you click on the global tab.

I do hope that Gforce will give us a updated V-Station that has the same filters as the K-Station since Novation refused to update it with all the filter types that the powercore and the HW had because of cpu issues when i asked about it many years ago.

The Gforce Bass station was improved and they made it even better than the SuperBass station so i hope the V-Station will receive the same Treatment from them.

Yeah I hope the same, but it would be best if it actually also migrated old instances in existing projects...

My license file (and request file) is from summer 2021, so rather not from the “freeware” version.

Also, my username in the plugin doesn't even say Bob Wood, but simply NOTHING :-)

The only idea now would be to install some DAW + V-Station on a friend's laptop and see what happens (whether he accepts the files or not).

Otherwise I'm in the process of learning Vital as a replacement for the V-Station, but the synth is only 5 years old and the developer (1-man operation) doesn't seem to care about bugfixes/updates and is playing dead:

So that would be the next dead synth I buy :dog:

The Bob wood is a weird one and i am trying to figure out why they added that in the freeware Key they gave me in the late 2022.
I started to wonder if it was some kind of tribute to someone but i can't find any Info on it at all except for another person on the Internet that also noticed the same and probably has the same question that i have on that issue :)

I've got it running on my system. I also owned it. I know I'm using the "freeware" version though. I use it quite a bit for relatively simple sounds. It has like zero CPU consumption which is always nice.

Yeah, old plugins can be good like that. I remember when Schwa Olga first came out, it was a bit of a CPU killer with lots of unison but these days it's nothing compared to more recent plugins.

Isn't an XStation a goo substitute?

I remember trying it out right after it was released.
1 Instance used 45% of my Cpu back then.
