Thanks, I was wondering if they were doing an SP-1200. The sampler actually interests me somewhat.osofaux wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 7:24 pmSure, hopefully it's okay to post them here.seangm wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 7:04 pmCare to share the new images of the Pure LoFi that you found?osofaux wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 5:48 pmAnd with a little bit more searching I was able to find a couple more images of the "Pure LoFi" instrument that are different from the one posted above. I think that completes the list?herbaltree wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 5:40 pmOK, that helps me remember what I was reading.osofaux wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 5:29 pm Use the google search: "arturia V collection 11" site:futuremusic-es.com
And go to images, they are still available as I post this. There are two of the JP-8000 that are different than what have been seen so far, and they are in the Arturia style GUIs we are used to.
* more spoilers *
The augmented series has a new look, new morphing curves, new additional samples and articulations for strings and voices. Full versions of Yangtze and Mallets. The JP-8000 had a piano-roll type sequencer, and a new trance gate effect. There was a minibrute, and a rebuilt SEM. I think that's all I can remember (I was skim-reading, planning to read properly later).![]()

Awesome thanks, it gives me hope that it's more like Arturia's take on something like TAL Sampler. If so that's awesome and I am extremely interested in that

Ugh, I kinda doubt it, I hope I'm wrong, but it looks more like a rompler with decent tweak-ability.IvyBirds wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 7:35 pmAwesome thanks, it gives me hope that it's more like Arturia's take on something like TAL Sampler. If so that's awesome and I am extremely interested in that

We will find out tomorrow but it seems from the GUI that there is a lot of control a lot more than is even in Augmentedmachinesworking wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 9:44 pmUgh, I kinda doubt it, I hope I'm wrong, but it looks more like a rompler with decent tweak-ability.IvyBirds wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 7:35 pmAwesome thanks, it gives me hope that it's more like Arturia's take on something like TAL Sampler. It's more on the level of Pigments from what I can tell
Seems weird to have root note control
If you can't import WAV files into it. A Rompler with all factory sounds would already have that information and would have octave or maybe transpose controls to shift it up and down
My guess is each oscillator loads a single sample just like the old school samplers of the 1980s
It just seems a shame to have all of that control and then not have sample import of waves
For me just having a Casio SK1 in plugin form would be a win and an instant buy but adding the others
I just want to know what a Weary900 is?

Their new Lo-Fi Vst looks like the Sonicware Liven Lo-Fi machine. Interesting

I'm sure lot's of this has to do with the recording system of the original hardware. I always noticed a pretty major difference between recording into my samplers and importing the same sounds via scsi or floppy disk. Even if I took care to keep the gain in the proper place.Danno wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 5:12 pm I've always been a little disappointed how clean the existing Arturia samplers are. It's been a while, but my old Akai X7000 was super lofi. Dropping samples into the Emu is way clean, relatively speaking.
Samples (especially ones that were recorded with expensive gear into very nice ADCs) aren't going to sound like they were recorded into a relatively primitive system. Having an "advanced" import for all their classic samplers where you could adjust settings like gain and recording sample rate (this could all be done offline at import with a pop-up window), might help get things closer to what you'd expect.
I made some pretty crazy stuff by running my synths through multi fx and compression before overdriving and therefore clipping the inputs on my old samplers. I'd often make a kick and sample it dry and then processed and clipped and after setting up my zones I'd match the levels and use velocity to fade between the dry and destroyed versions. In another case I'd fill all the sample slots in my rz1 with differently processed versions of the same drum or stab.
I'd say having this as an offline import option would be far simpler than adding a side chain input for recording sounds that get processed in real-time as they're written to disk. This would allow for some interesting and sometimes surprising sounds.
All this assumes that they have the playback mechanisms programmed correctly too as these artifacts and such stack up in fun ways.

FWIW the original E-II hardware was very clean for its time and not really low-fi at all. Most certainly cleaner than Fairlight CMI IIx, Mirage, and other samplers of it's dayDanno wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 5:12 pm I've always been a little disappointed how clean the existing Arturia samplers are. It used DPCM mu-255 companding companding to store 14 bits worth of data in 8 bits. It also had really good Analog components on the inputs and outputs and an amazing filter, that along with its 27.7 kHz sample rate made for some pretty clean sounds
Only the Synclavier II was cleaner for its time but that costs 10x as much

If this new Arturia sampling/ROMpler instrument can load only a single sample per key zone, then I would never use it. I don't think a "creative sampler" needs to support round robin samples, scripting, etc. But it definitely needs at least four samples per key zone that can either be layered or velocity split. And then each sampler instrument needs at least four layers (not all of which need to be used) that can be layered or velocity split, and with assignable key ranges. That allows you to create reasonably detailed instruments that provide a decent velocity response.IvyBirds wrote: Wed Apr 23, 2025 10:08 pm My guess is each oscillator loads a single sample just like the old school samplers of the 1980s
Even sampled synth patches usually require four velocity zones/layers to capture the filter/dynamic response of the source synth. One trick I often employ when sampling non-velocity-sensitive synths is to adjust the filter cutoff and other parameters per velocity layer sampled to make the original synth pseudo velocity-sensitive.
A "creative sampler" also needs an "autosampler" function with autolooping / auto-crossfading to take the drudgery out of sampling and looping samples.
If Arturia has built something like this, it will be a terrific creative tool. If not, I will continue to use Logic's Autosampler utility and then load the EXS instruments it generates into HALion.

The JP-8000 seems like a no brainer. I had one back in the day and the super saw was cool, but that was about it
