Ooh, I just figured out what the helicopter tool is for! Just think if you try to drop something between spinning rotor blades of a chopper. Most of the time it'll get cut into pieces, but every once in a while it might go through. Applying that concept to Tracktion, the helicopter tool obviously thins MIDI controller data. :D

What, it can only draw straight lines? I can't make a top 40 hit without drawing an exponential curve for controller data!
:x :tantrum:

:hihi:
Well maybe you can draw them with the pencil tool as well/instead? Another question for Beno
Nope...If you try to draw a curve the pants tool apears and ... well lets just say your pretty coloured notes are no longer a pretty colour.

headquest wrote:Hey Beno,

Does the new MIDI editor have a "paint" tool ... and/or drum lanes?
OK so looking at the screenshot I don't see a paint tool :( [maybe in Tracktion 3 :o ] but its good to see the velocity lane and notes at the same time.

Without a paint tool I'm thinking no drum lanes, right?

Oh go on Beno - you know you want to tell us more about the improvements in the MIDI editor...

What's a paint tool? My brain is refusing to work as it's half one in the morning, and i should be in bed
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

I was afraid to post because I thought I was the only one who didn't know.

Seriously though - can we draw automation curves and if so, will they snap to clips?

(if these are two more features, list them plzkthx :hihi:)

 I meant that nice little paint brush type thing that you can use in *some* sequencers to paint in repeated notes. Useful for example when you are doing a drum track and you want to "paint in" the hi-hats with one foul sweep of, um, the brush...

Ben
if it's like the one in acid it draws a note that fills the cell you draw it in, and if you drag it sideways instead of lengthening that note it makes new ones.

Oh right ... so, uh, what's the line tool for then?

I assumed it was for use in the velocity/controller lane, as in Reason?

Could be ... hang on, are you saying the big T is trying to be more like Reason's sequencer?

:-o  :-o

Let's hope not, isn't that why everyone rewires Reason to something else? Have more faith in Jules

:D

On that note, i really am off to bed, 'cos i'm shattered

This is turning out to be something special! This has been the best day yet of the tease. Now, tomorrow you announce folder tracks. The next day you annouce a new time stretch, then you announce automation that moves with your clip. Then you just reveal the rest and let us buy it. Sounds good to me.

Oh, and the pants and helicopter can be pleasant surprises saved for the last day.

(Hey, Beno, I noticed a couple of words I think you need to change on the site. Can I see the ORIGINAL copy of improvements to T2 so I can see where you went wrong?) :D
