Exactly. Some of my friends had JP-8000 - they said they couldn't get anything out of it. But they're into 80s and 70s synths, so JP is not their thing.Hyperbole wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 1:46 amThat might be the case with emulations of analog filters. But the JP8000 already has a fairly harsh, grainy digital filter sound. So even if Arturia completely nailed it, the filter would still sound harsh by today's standards. I think what you are hearing just is the gritty digital sound of the JP8000. There is a reason I returned mine after two weeks in 1997.Passante wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 3:30 pm It just sounds harsh, I don't know what is wrong with people who're excited about it.
I suppose those who're into SynthWave won't be bothered.
I notice this with most plugin emulations. They hold on until you start moving things around, messing with the filter etc...
It seems to me like the "resolution" of the filters in plugins is "smaller" if this makes any sense. It's like...it's skipping some dots, as if the bit depth is lower.
Plugin manufacturers wanna optimize CPU so they cut corners, and it seems to me they focus on the filter specifically to save up CPU, which in return degrades the fidelity and as a result the original intent of making a convincing emulation is being lost.
Arutira got there 99%, so I'm really into 8000 V... Virtual studio is now complete.
Last time I was this thrilled was the release of Spire long ago
