Do something interesting, for God's sake!
You’re aware that Dave Spiers is not the coder of any Gforce products , ?

No, I was not aware of that. I just assumed that to be the case since Dave Spiers seems to be the face of the company. He's always on SonicTalk as the resident plugin guru. So is he "just" the business guy?

I demand a 3-voice. Everyone is always so predictably into even numbers - I can get a 2-voice, 4-voice, even-8 voice. Actually, in terms of Oberheim if I'm brutally honest, the synth I most want is a 0-voice.

I wouldn't say he just the business guy , I assume they have a team responsible for that .
Dave is just a cool muso dude and is basically the face of G-force ,
Most of their products are coded by whoever they hire ( and they obviously have a nose for talent ) .

I feel the GForce renaissance started around the time they brought in Hugo Brangwyn as a developer for OB-E. However, looking at credits for some of their more recent plugins, there are multiple developers who appear to work for GForce on Linkedin. I assume they use a mix of in-house and freelance devs.

Their Matrix 12 plugin will be incredible ! ;)

Nope, Jon Hodgson coded that. The main GF guys aren't coders, they are synth enthusiasts, sound designers, musicians, consultants and small business owners. They've always contracted out the development, but these days seem to have some coders who are now in-house, which has massively speeded up their ability to create new instruments and do updates etc...

After playing with the demo a bit, and watching this comprehensive video:

I got TVS Pro. I also picked up DMX while it's on sale. :tu:
Was going to pass on DMX, because I've been a drummer forever,
but it should be fun to goof around with.

You 'd love Dave Smith's Take-5 and Pro-3 then, yeah? Or IK's Uno Synth Pro, which can do 3 voice paraphony.

I hope some day they do a 12 voice OB-MX. It's not a Tom Oberheim's design but I always wanted one of those, fully expanded and without the maintenance headaches frequently mentioned.

I installed the demo and had a play around with it today. What a shitty bunch of presets it has to show it off. If their SEM's presets had been this bad, I'd never have bought it. They seem totally preoccupied with the sequencer, as though the synth should sell itself, which I think is a really bad idea.

I had a quick play around with making some sounds from scratch but having to program each SEM separately is a punish. Pressing the GROUP button makes it a bit easier but it would be nice if the controls all snapped to the same values when you select it. Better still would be the ability to copy/paste one SEM's settings to the other one. This feature in OB-E would also make working with that monster an order of magnitude better.

On the positive side, I love the GUI colours, they should make it an option for OB-E and SEM, and it sounds as good as SEM (as you'd expect) once you get into it. That, however, is not enough to make me want to part with my hard-earned, so I'll be sitting this one out. And once I realised I couldn't save any of the patches I made with the demo version, I stopped torturing myself straight away and went back to playing with Model 77 instead. A swing and a miss from GForce on this one, I'm afraid.

One Screen or two Screens?
What screen and resolution is it blurry on?
thanks

I'm using Win 11 with 1080p 27 inch screen. It's not my setup, it's just the way the synth is designed. It's like the font has a bloom effect on it or something. Some of the Arturia stuff has a similar effect. Look below at the contrast between the website text and the text on the UI. The website text is sharp and clear. The UI text is fuzzy/bloomy in comparison, it's like they've added a blur filter over the UI. It actually makes my eyes feel weird when I look at it. It's probably just a me thing.

I ask because on my PC they are usually fine, on my mac if I use the normal screen (a 23 inch 1920x1080) it is blurry, but when i travel I connect up to a Samsung TV and it is not blurry there.

It appears the GUI isn't pixel perfect for the resolution. It's a little blurred due to upscaling on my 4K monitor in what should be a crisp mac hi-dpi mode.
