Hi all,

From Thursday to Saturday this week - 8th of May to 10th, we'll be presenting stuff that's been in the works for a very long time and that's getting close to beta testing (software, firmware) or preorders (hardware).

So first of all we'll be showing progress of Zebra 3 since our NAMM preview, which is mostly refinements of UI, polished modules, and the addition of a few missing modules:

We hope to be feature complete with Zebra 3 in about 2 months in order to keep our goal to release a public beta or even a final this year.

Next up, we have internally seeded a Beta of Uhbik 2.0, which still needs some final issues fixed before we can go public. However, it is looking very, very good. The team involved with Uhbik has been churning through a vast amount of tickets and feature wishes, and we think it's gonna be a really great and round package:

Also, we have a new hardware module coming to Eurorack soonishly. Production has just started, so depending on how smooth this goes, we should be in stores in less than a handful of months. I try to be cautious though, but Cen2rion should be a no-brainer.

(Funny enough, for me personally it improves on a discontinued module by Make Noise, which was sorely missed, and now Make Noise coincidentally have their own take on a successor, posing a completely different compositional focus. Ours is sooo much better of course! ;-) )

Oh yes, there's a well meaning homage to Toasters in there... fans of Battlestar Galactica will know what I mean...

Finally, we are this >< close to going beta with our firmware update for CVilization that includes a quad oscillator as an alternative mode. We're pretty much waiting for a nod from our QA guy who had been buried in testing for Uhbik and Zebra 3.

Cheers,

- U

Ok, I just spent my lunch zooming in on these pictures :ud:
Modal. Mallet. The potential of mod matrixes in Runciter and Uhbik G. Oh, and the other Uhbiks.
Wow, this is exciting!

Great lunch.

Very exciting. Zebra2 is a physical modelling powerhouse so glad to see it expanded. Uhbik looking great. Uhbik-G "Graindad"? Internal name considering the Sugar Bytes product? Tremolo looks fantastic with the possibilities. Please tell me it can spit out MIDI CC.

Easy problem to solve: Graindaddy! Don't like that? How about, Grainpa? Or Grainfather? Or Grainmother? Or more simply, Grainma?

Uhbik-G has been called "Grain Dad" loooong before other companies made that pun 8)

This was what the G always stood for, which it shows in the value display with the init preset. (most screenshots show preset names instead though...)

Extremely clean UI, great job! For Z3 could we get an output gain knob for all the FXs? for gain staging purpose.

Uhbik-Q is no more?

Oh, yes it is still there... but it is strangely missing in the screenshots...

For some reason I thought that the fm oscs and regular oscs were going to be merged, or was it just that the regular oscs were going to be able to fm each other as well? I see in the screen shot there are still separate oscs and fmoscs. Will it be possible to use the wavetable oscs to fm modulate each other as well?

Is the Zebra3 GUI fully vectorial?

We leave the decision open in regards to making normal oscillators into FM carriers. It probably won't happen now, but it might happen later.

The new FMOs have some features up their sleeves that go beyond the previous ones. First of all, they have a built in modulator and carrier pair, plus a feedback chain. Secondly, the input from other modules and the feedback can be routed in various ways.

But most importantly, each path has special options, such that apart from classic DX-style FM there is also Thru Zero FM and ModFM, a concept that creates more naturally sounding harmonic structures than DX-style. Those options can be freely combined across Input, Modulator and Feedback (there are different sets of options in each, the feedback path also has a squared DX style for focus on odd harmonic generation)

Also, we have found a great way of aliasing suppression.

Hence, we found that dedicated FMOs add quite a bit more flavour than just merging all that into the normal oscillators.

I'd say 95%. Not sure if some stuff is pixel based, if it makes sense somewhere. I think the knobs are still bitmaps, and maybe some pre-rendered filter responses that we use as previews. Dunno.

Looks great! So dedicated FMOs (how many?) will be part of initial feature scope already?

I'll for sure will be dropping by on Superbooth :)

Congrats on all this progress. I can't wait to see some of the videos of the likes of Sonicstate to see it in action.
Is there any planned update for Diva? It's still my go-to synth and I'm sure it could use some TLC ...

So, our focus for Sonicstate is going to be Cen2rion and Uhbik as we already did a Zebra 3 preview at NAMM, even though we had a lot fewer modules to show than we do now.

Our development team will soon focus on exactly those areas that are needed to update Diva. We have concentrated incredible knowledge about filter modelling and young talent in our development team, so we hope to seamlessly move over from Zebra 3 development to Diva development in a few months. This will take time, but we're all excited to get there.
