I wish you could give us a container plug-in (like Soundtoys Effect Rack or Kilohearts Snap Heap and Multipass) so we could create our own Uhbik 2.0 effects combinations in series or parallel or both and save them as ONE effect preset. It could even have multiband capability like Multipass and LFO capability like Snap Heap. That would be a total game changer with these Uhbik 2.0 effects.

With the Reaktor developer on board at U-he, I wonder if they might eventually create a Reaktor-like multi-fx environment where people could take various building blocks from the Uhbiks, and patch them together in a modular way. Then throw in utility modules (gain, multiband crossovers, splitters, envelope followers, etc.) and where applicable add additional inputs/outputs (feedback loop i/o on the delay for example, sidechains).limitlesssss wrote: Fri May 09, 2025 3:16 pmI wish you could give us a container plug-in (like Soundtoys Effect Rack or Kilohearts Snap Heap and Multipass) so we could create our own Uhbik 2.0 effects combinations in series or parallel or both and save them as ONE effect preset. Make it a modular FX playground with the Uhbik's at the core. Or add U-he filters and synth modules and go full-blown instrument/FX playground. What have you got? Reaktor? Not much else with that kind of scope.
I'm surprised there's so little like that in plugin land (though perhaps it's just my ignorance). I can do series/parallel stuff in my DAW, so FX racks that offer only that, almost never get used by me. I'd rather build my own bespoke plugin chains. But if I could patch together and wire up my own FX chains in a modular playground, that'd be awesome. Look at Chow DSP's BYOD as an example (albiet, that one is limited and focused on distortion building blocks).

I've got both. They're ok but the core algorithms don't do it for me.

I looks like the Uhbik 2.0 UIs have been designed to be modular. Header on top, modulators on the right, and mod matrix at the bottom. If U-He were to create an fx rack plugin it looks like it'd be pretty easy to chop those pieces off and put all the fx in a list.

So, apparently, each time we try to achieve a rack device, we hit a wall. Development stalls, frustration sets in, stability deteriorates. We decided to remove the rack from our current goals, and fully concentrate on delivering the upgrade for the single plug-ins. Maybe in a few years we'll look into it again, but I can't promise anything.
In the past six years we have transitioned and updated each of our products to our most recent framework and technologies. Uhbik has been the last and most challenging product in this respect. During this time we have not released any new products, which is typically what keeps companies afloat.
The whole team is shifting from maintenance mode to building new products. Four or five of our developers are pretty new to us, or new to creative DSP work. So my hope is, that in a few years we'll have released a few new products and gathered enough experience that we can again attempt to achieve a rack version of Uhbik, and this time succeed. We'll see.

I think the new possibilities of the uhbiks are excellent. With the new modulation options, you can do some very creative things, as the video demonstrates beautifully. I would like to see such tricks and methods in the manual or in presets with descriptions. The uhbiks will definitely find a completely different use for me than before. Personally, I don't miss having a container or rack device.

Thank you Urs. I guess in the meantime, using Bitwig and nesting and combining Uhbik devices together + Bitwig's own vast modulation capabilities would be the second best option. Wouldn't you say so?Urs wrote: Sat May 10, 2025 6:22 am So, apparently, each time we try to achieve a rack device, we hit a wall. Development stalls, frustration sets in, stability deteriorates. You could use a hosting plugin such as Kushview Element or Blue Cat Audio’s Patchwork (just two examples of many of these types of plugins), and then save and reload saved presets of these effect plugins, in your DAW of choice. That’s all a Uhbik rack would be. I’m more interested in having the upgraded Uhbik effects than a rack. Although a Uhbik rack would be indeed nice and welcome, we at least have existing workarounds that can do the same thing.

What about Reason Rack dear Urs, as you used to have rack extensions and why not do it with Uhbik 2.0?
It would be amazing as Reason rack is now also a vst 3 plugin.
