It seems you want the sound of crackling hardware components. Analog hardware ages, and will sound different after 40 years. You can‘t even compare an emulation with a brand new hardware device of that sort…
Extended ranges are a good thing, as long as you can still get all the sounds of the original…

I think a ton of people are still on v8 and Arturia's pricing model makes it difficult to justify an upgrade even when they put it on sale

The Minimoog update that came out with "X"sounds great, but if you already have "The Legend" there is very little interest, same goes with the SEM update in 11

I don't know about the others you've mentioned above, but I'd like to know what you find about Arturia's emulation of the Prophet VS that rates being "kick ass good"? Is that assessment made in comparison to one of the real hardware units?
Yes and don't just take my world for it. Charlie Clouser formally of NIN has sung its praises from day one, he owned the hardware and tested the software side by side and walked away saying they were so close it blew his mind and any differences came down to calibration issues, he even posted examples on a thread on another forum

If you want the Prophet VS sound and don't want to deal with expensive fragile 35+ year old hardware, prone to failure that was made on the cheap by a company in the process of going bankrupt (read more on that here
https://learningmodular.com/the-story-o ... rophet-vs/)
there is no better option than the Arturia Prophet VS . It even has the original factory waveforms

You either like the Prophet VS sound or you don't, but the emulation Arturia did is kick ass good
I did hear Charlie's side-by-sides, and they were too close for me to discern a difference.

Yeah, I have a bunch of other great Model D emulations, and the excellent GForce Oberheim stuff, so I really didn't find their versions to be substantially good enough to be worth it. Plus I have a Studio Electronics ATC-X that's got great hardware filter clones of the Model D and the SEM filters.

The truth is, I've got great examples of pretty much everything I've ever wanted. If someone did a great Fizmo or Sunsyn emulation, I'd be interested, but for the classics... I'm pretty damn set.

Not really. I mean, if a synth emulates that kind of stuff, that's just more options to make cool sounds and that just good. I don't want to just focus on the sound of the 303 - but I know that sound pretty well - and just as with software, there are good hardware clones and bad. It's more of a design choice of the developers rather than crackling components. Or perhaps a passionate level of detail. How long did Cymatic develop their distortion plugin for? Or Mike Janney of Audio Realism. I think his 303 emulation has been in development for more than three decades now.

One thing i'd say that Arturia are ahead of the curve on is the MPE implementation. Gforce and Softube both make excellent emulations but the MPE implementations are none to not great.

Awesome then take a Charlie's,
I would, if I knew what a Charlie’s is.

Are you sensing a pattern yet?

You mean how you refuse to answer if you think the Prophet VS sounds like the hardware or the fact you think it's cleaver to be the typo police?

Either way that says more about you than me, however OMG there was a typo on an internet forum that has never happened before thank God however you are here to point that out

Not all heros wear capes

And I noticed the pattern right away, just found it so ridiculous that I ignored it.

I'm already not very interested in v11. There's very little I can even imagine that would make v12 appealing, especially this far out.

Is it just me thinking that Arturia V Collection presets sound cheap and bad compared to Logic Alchemy and Zebra Legacy? I mean, unless you use huge amount of reverb, it is not usable.

Not sure why anyone would compare what are primarily vintage synth emulations to Alchemy or Zebra that use entirely synthesis methods

The Augmented instruments ar showing in MyKVR as being version 2.0.1.6138 now. I have version 2.0.0.6106 installed, and ASM is showing no updates available.

Anyone else experiencing this or know what's going on?

Yep, I’m still at v8.

So no one has tried to update the Augmented instruments? MyKVR isn’t saying they’re out of date?
