Z3 doesn't use standard wavetables...jtsterays wrote: Sun May 18, 2025 3:54 am So Z3 will have osc presets like Z2, but what about a standard wavetable library like other synths or Hive?

As far as I remember, we only changed one single parameter (pre-delay in the reverb its range extended from 100ms to 500ms), which is handled by an internal switch if a project with the old version is opened.coroknight wrote: Sat May 17, 2025 6:41 pm Is that due to a Uhbik v1 compatibility layer or they always sound exactly the same with the same settings?
All other parameters have exactly the same ranges, scales and effect as the original Uhbiks.
Even presets from the 2019 alpha version should be mostly fine, maybe need a few tweaks in the envelope follower or wherever else we fixed some bugs.
That said, what really changed are some of the surround channel assignments. We fixed some compatibility issues with Logic for instance.
If anything, the most problematic thing may be that we renamed them. "Uhbik-F" is now "Uhbik Flanger" etc. This never worked in VST2, but it works with VST2-to-VST3 migration (it's great in Cubase for instance). There are still some issues in a few hosts, but we're working with host developers on this. Those hosts have VST2-to-VST3 migration issues regardless of the new names, like they can't find one or two plug-ins, or simply sometimes open the wrong one. Should that become a real problem, we will offer guidance on a parallel installation of old VST2 plug-ins.

There'll be oscillator presets, of course, and I'm sure we'll have presets and copy/paste of full Curve sets.jtsterays wrote: Sun May 18, 2025 3:54 am So Z3 will have osc presets like Z2, but what about a standard wavetable library like other synths or Hive?
As the oscillator currently only uses spline based curves, there is no direct support for Hive/Serum style wavetables.

Thanks to the whole U-He Team, this is going to be awesome and I'm impatient just reading about the releases

Waste of their talents--there are already several decent to good emulations, and it's not that interesting a synth!

And (btw) Cen2rion looked really cool!

Without poly aftertouch, I feel that you will never have the full CS-80 experience, and the last time I checked, poly aftertouch was still a feature most people, myself included, simply can't afford.

There is the Keith McMillen QuNexus for around $199 or Hydrasynth Explorer for about twice that with mini keys. I am surprised there hasn't been more poly aftertouch midi controllers like a keystep pro or something.
Did I hear a rumor that Diva 2 may be in a future road map with more modules? That'll be something. Really looking forward to Ubik2 and zebra3.

Korg Keystage 61 and 49-key MIDI Keyboard Controllers (@$699 and $599 respectively) have poly AT and MIDI 2.0, FWIW.

I know it might be boring but I hope u-he remains focused on Zebra3 for the foreseeable future after it finally launches. Bug fixes, new features like the arp/seq; give it some more TLC

What would be interesting is a Zebra-style semi modular with analog modelled oscillators and filters (e.g. Diva/Repro/etc oscillators and filters).
