I got a new mac, and I cannot seem to install the 17.04 Melda products on it, even though the old mac was working great at 17.03.

The new MPluginManager seems to work fine, installs and activates without errors, but neither Logic Pro nor Ableton Live can use any Melda plugins. On Ableton, they simply don't appear. In Logic's Plugin Manager, they are listed, but get an error during validation: "couldn't be opened" (please see below). The VST3 and AU plugin files appear to me to be in their correct locations under /Library.

I did the "Repair Installation" procedure, restarted everything including MacOS, rescanned in Logic and Ableton multiple times. No change.

What else can I do? Any known problems? Can I install 17.03 somehow?

Details follow:

Versions:
new (doesn't work): Plugin versions v17.04, MPluginManager v02.02, MacOs 15.3.1 (Sequoia), 2024 MBP M4 Max.
old (works): Plugin versions v17.03, MPluginManager v???, MacOS 14.7.4 (Sonoma), 2019 MBP (Intel)

Log from Logic's plugin scanner (stopped prematurely because of error):

Looks like that your Audio Unit plugin fails to open during the initial validation test (the “cold open”) on your system. This is unusual, but not unprecedented. You're currently using macOS Sequoia v15.3.1, which has known issues with AU plugin validation. We recommend updating to macOS v15.4.1 (the latest stable version), which has shown to resolve these issues in our testing with plugin version 17.04.

Please let us know:

Does this issue affect all of our plugins or just a few?
Have you tried loading the VST3 versions instead of AU, for example in Ableton Live?
Do you see any log message connected to this in macOS Console?

How to Revert to Version 17.03
If you'd prefer to revert to plugin version 17.03, follow these steps:

- Download MPluginManager v02.03 (latest), run it, and under the Settings tab, set "Auto plugin updates" to OFF, then close the app.

- Download the offline installation pack maudioplugins_17_03_02.zip from here and unzip it to a folder.

- Temporarily disable your internet connection (e.g., disconnect from Wi-Fi).

- Run MPluginManager. It will start in offline mode. Navigate to: Settings → Offline install settings → Load offline installation data, then select the folder with the unzipped 17.03 pack.

- Once loaded it will reinstalls to 17.03. Optionally click "Repair Install" to ensure all plugin packages are properly updated to version 17.03.

- You can enable your internet connection. Once you start MPluginManager, it will detects new version, but since you have auto updates OFF, select no to stay on 17.03.

Note: We’ll soon release a new version of MPluginManager with native support for switching to any available stable version online. The above steps are a temporary workaround until that update is released.

Hi Martin,
Thank you so much for getting back to me. First your questions:

> Does this issue affect all of our plugins or just a few?
All the Melda ones that I have are not working. This is what I have:
* 38 plugins in MFreeFXBundle
* 1 plugin MWaveShaperMB that I paid for.
No problems scanning all my non-Melda plugins.

> Have you tried loading the VST3 versions instead of AU, for example in Ableton Live?
Yes, as I said, in Ableton, no Melda plugins appear in the browser. My Ableton is configured for VST3-only (no AU or VST2).
I also checked all the files in /Users/<me>/Library/Application Support/Ableton and
/Users/<me>/Library/Preferences/Ableton .
In /Users/<me>/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 12.1.11/PluginScanner.txt, there are lots of lines like this:

Code: Select all (#)

2025-05-06T19:31:36.188324: info: VST3: check plugin at path: "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/MeldaProduction/Distortion/MWaveShaperMB.vst3"
2025-05-06T19:31:36.288610: error: Failed to load plugin: The bundle “MWaveShaperMB” couldn’t be loaded.
2025-05-06T19:31:36.288630: info: VST3: not a plugin
Nothing appears to be relevant in any of the other files in those 2 directories.

> Do you see any log message connected to this in macOS Console?
No there's nothing in any of the files Console reports that seems relevant.

> We recommend updating to macOS v15.4.1 (the latest stable version)

Here's what I've done since first post:
1) I updated macOS to v15.4.1. I ran full plugin rescans in both Ableton and Logic. Symptoms in both Ableton and Logic are unchanged (not working).
2) I ran MPluginManager: it auto-updated to v02.03. I ran "Repair installation" on all 39 plugins. Then I restarted macOS as recommended in the MPluginManager UI.
3) I ran full plugin rescans in Ableton and Logic. Symptoms in both Ableton and Logic are unchanged.

So now the system looks like this:
Plugin versions v17.04, MPluginManager v02.03, MacOs 15.4.1 (Sequoia), 2024 MBP M4 Max.

I was thinking to try 17.03 plugins. Your line:
> Download the offline installation pack maudioplugins_17_03_02.zip from here and unzip it to a folder.
Did you intend to put a URL in that line? I tried going to https://www.meldaproduction.com/downloads/offline (https://www.meldaproduction.com/downloads/offline)
Unfortunately, all four of the downloads listed on that page give 404 errors. I verified that I'm logged in on the website.

Please let me know your thoughts, and I appreciate your support very much.

The link to download the offline installation packages is here: https://www.meldaproduction.com/downloads/offline .
We experienced a temporary server outage, which caused the 404 error you encountered. The issue has been resolved, and the link should now work correctly - my apologies for the inconvenience.

You can try version 17.03 and see if it helps, though I have my doubts. It's likely we'll need to look more closely at your system’s security settings. Therefore, I recommend contacting me directly via email so we can troubleshoot further : martin@meldaproduction.com

Your doubts were correct. Installing 17.03 did not change any symptoms. Still not working.

I'll send you an email, as you suggested. Thanks so much for your help!

Once more thanks for the help with diagnosting the problem. Installation issue on the Apple M4 and newer chips is resolved, it is released with MPluginManager v02.04 .

Hello Martin! It would be nice if the number of Lfo steps in the step sequencer could be automated. If i try to do it now it automates the step 1 value instead.

If we're doing feature requests: having the ability to add GUI elements to the Easy Screen for MXXX or MSF would be great. For example, I'd love to see the tuner GUI when making guitar patches in MXXX. Or, say, being able to add a goniometer to a mastering channel strip is something we can't currently do. I'm pretty sure this has been requested, and I think it's worth repeating. Thanks.

Does it stop calling home if you go the Plugin Manager / Settings and untick/deselect "Auto Plugin Updates" and "Auto Installer Updates" ?

Point/button "Load offline installation data" is off.
Button "Download offline installation data" is active.

I don't know, but I thinking what manager calling too. Program starting with unknown long activities without messages before hello window.

Too complex way in any cases. I download all files in ZIP. Why me need to do many and many and more ?

It isn't to eliminate traffic. Too complex

Each offline installer must be downloaded somehow, so a download link must exist...

Repetition is the mother of wisdom - here's how to perform an offline installation easily in two steps:

1. Download the offline installation data from: https://www.meldaproduction.com/downloads/offline
Save it i.e. to an external drive and unzip it. The ZIP archive contains all plugin data and the MPluginManager installers.

2. On the target offline computer:
If MPluginManager isn't installed yet, install it first from the data you have and run it. Then go to the Settings tab and click "Load offline installation data". Locate the external drive with the unzipped data - MPluginManager will load the data and reinstall your plugins (if any are already installed). This also allows you to install older versions in case the latest update causes any issues.

Note: Addons are not included in the offline installation data pack. If you don't have their installer packs, you can download them through MPluginManager. Currently, there is no direct download link for addons — should we consider adding one?

Also, "Load offline installation data" is greyed out when you're online. The idea is that if you're connected to the internet, you can update normally. This feature is meant for offline computers only. However, we’re considering removing this limitation if it proves helpful.

Download offline installation data button will prepare the same data as the offline pack zip file we provide + you can add there addons you want and your licences.

If you have any suggestions that make sense for improving offline installation, please let me know!

Can you please send to me your instrument settings to martin@meldaproduction.com? I can then reproduce and fix the issue.
