Will support for multi-VST3's be added in M10?

Post

I stupidly bought V10 on the strong assumption V10 finally implementing VST3 - a 13 year old technology - for the MuLab plugin .
If it's not implemented before the next liable to pay update I'm out.

Uhbik v2 has just been released, but no longer supports VST2, only VST3, and other formats.
This is going to become more and more common. Can we please have multi-VST3 support in M10.
Thank you.

The correct term is "shell plugin", just FYI :)

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Am aware, just hoped for some confirmation if there's any chance for M10 :)

Well, it might be on account of bad plugins, but I can say that MuLab has the worst stability in handling those errors of any DAW that I use (at least 99% lockup or crash on plugin errors). I would be more informative of such things, but I don't like getting attacked by the fanbois here for saying negative stuff. I use MuLab with plugins and don't use the native effects/instruments at all, even if that might not be popular.

I know, it's odd that MuLab seems to suffer the most yet has stuck to the "rule-book" the most when adopting VST3 programming! Clearly there's a lot of dodgy programmers out there, many of which work for the big firms!

The VST docs are awful and nobody reads them. Well, maybe that one weirdo... I learned by picking apart an open source plugin which taught me all the wrong ways to do things. :D Now that I can wrap my head around how plugins work, it's hard not to do things the right way. Except for the things that VSTs say they do but hosts completely ignore...

Although I haven't learned it yet, I'm grateful to CLAP for coming out with what seems a solid, reliable format that is fully open and extensible.

All that said, I've found Mulab to be rock solid in running plugins and the few issues I've found, Jo has been very responsive in fixing the bug or pointing out the issue to be reported to the plugin maker, who promptly ignore me. (There are commercial bugs still out there I reported years ago... )
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Indeed, Jo's support is stelar, he's even got some plugins working for me, where they weren't before.
That doesn't change the fact that for me, the main thing keeping me from using it as my primary,
would be it's stability, seemingly in relation to VST3 plugin errors specifically.

I agree, Jo is great at bug-fixing...

MuLab crashing? That’s news to me.

Just load PG8X and click on the LCD display :P

(But the reason for this is known and a fix should happen eventually.)

I use it for testing my own plugins. If it crashes, I can reopen in seconds and I always get great error messages. But yes, it can and does crash with naughty plugins. They are not sandboxed and can take everything with them when they go.
