As for v8, supposedly v7 is the last iterated version, and they are going to switch to date-based versioning in the future, so it will just increment continuously without arbitrary breaks between versions.
I believe that is no more the case.
Was there an announcement?

Does CLAP support work properly yet?

I think It does. I upgraded yesterday from v.5 and i've been using some CLAP without problems.
Almost every CLAP Host does the same, not like VST3...

Want to hear Sub Zero before installing it?

I’m not going to bother installing Sub Zero just like I haven’t installed Lead Architect.

But I have to say I am enjoying these quality of life improvements in 7.2. They are punching above their weight.

I'm still surprised that macros can't be automated yet...

You can assign MidiCC/external controllers. If you create a midi loopback, you can automate macros.

But, in automation lane it still be separate parameters, not a macro knob 1 for example. Good luck editing this mess, if you have 3-4 parameters for the macro.

- Create a midi loopback.
- Assign controllers to macros, and name controls properly.
- Create an automation lane.
Done.
Probably the mess is trying to do in a manual way. Studio One is good at automation, very good, but a little abstraction is a must.

Can I do it with audio tracks?

Post

Serhii Kot wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:51 am Can I do it with audio tracks?
As long as you have an audio>MIDI Converter, of course. You could do It with samples within Impact. MIDI is really cheap spec.
But it's easier using a MIDI loopback utility.
Start with this:

Next step, learn how to create your own custom devices. This is not in the manual, not even specced. It's something you can do by editing XML files.

Because macros are applied once, the macro is the automation. lol We might be talking about different things here, are you talking about javascript macros that perform editing tasks like slicing and event editing?

This just brings up another issue, why doesnt s1 have internal midi routing yet.

For what specific purpose? (not that I‘m denying the need). But, e.g., it’s already possible to redirect a track lane (with a MIDI Arp) to another track lane.
