Let me know if you'd want something that isn't covered above.
- - Precise VU meter (with labels/ticks) for Limiter GR, Drive %, Output, and Comp GR.
- Numeric readouts for Comp GR, Limiter GR, LUFS, and LRA.
- Added selectable range for the GR history graph: 10, 15, 25 dB (should be much easier to see what's happening at lower compression now).

I have a question on the Soft Clip function of the plugin. Does it automatically apply clipping? How can I see how much is being clipped? Would that be the Limiter GR that’s going to be added?

Yes, the Limiter Max GR & Limiter VU meter will show you how much the limiter is working and how much it is reducing the signal to avoid clipping. As long as "Brickwall" is turned on (or mix is 100%), the Soft Clip section will always keep the signal below 0 dBFS (i.e. there won't be any digital clipping).Kretch wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 12:22 pm That’s amazing. To see how much distortion the Soft Clipper is creating, you'd want to use the "Drive" mode for the VU meter, which shows the approximate THD %.
In beta #2, we've also added a cleaner, more digital Soft Clip Mode called "Pasadena" (in addition to four analog-y ones) that is loosely inspired by a certain gold-faced mastering AD converter.

Thank you very much. This has been helpful. Looking forward to B2.devkerr wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 7:59 pmYes, the Limiter Max GR & Limiter VU meter will show you how much the limiter is working and how much it is reducing the signal to avoid clipping. Looks like we had a PACE error for Windows AAX. We'll get up a new beta installer soon.
Thanks for reporting!

Good question.
While both analog-style compressor/limiters, they have a pretty different sound.
Faraday is very predictable & dependable, and it has a fairly linear compression curve. For that reason, I find it excels for things with predictable peaks. Great for getting punch and overt compression. It has more of a Class-A / FET sound.
VCME is much squishier. The way it reacts depends a lot on where it is in the gain reduction curve and what has preceded it. In that way, it's a little more musical / program dependent. I think it has a bit more of an opto sound (despite having both FET and opto release modes). It's also fairly transparent for low gain reductions.
Obviously, VCME also has a very extensive Soft Clipper, sidechain filter, etc., that Faraday doesn't have, so beyond the compression there are big differences.
As always, it's best to try yourself on your own material!

sounds VERY interesting...
Here‘s a feature request without having tried the comp:
bpm sync for the release time
So you could lock to the host tempo and say give me a release time that equals a quarter note
Might be a fun new way to set the release time. Might be difficult if there‘s programdependency though (maybe make this section enable itself only when FET-release is set to 100% since it has a more controlled and constant release time)

All GHZ plugins are gold! Price tag for VULF Mastering Comp is too much for me ATM but I would love at least to try the demo. VULF Comp is the legend, love it!

So I just tried it and squishy is a really good description. it can sound really close to what I loved about the opto comp in Tupe with way more control AND options. A lot to learn and think about but so far I like it. I prefer it over the Faraday Limiter, because of this squishyness - at least for the project I'm mastering right now. Can I say it sounds friendly... does this make sense? because it does to me. it changes the timbre of the kick and snare ever so slightly and makes them pop in a really polished way.
As for feature requests:
I already wished for bpm snyc'able release times.
I'd also love to have some sort of warmth control like the Faraday has, because that's really cool. But that might not be easy. because it changes the release times depending on the frequency, so +100% warmth was long release times in the high end and short release times in the lows. Which in turn tamed the high end without using an EQ. that's a fun trick but it would make bmp syncing the thing even more impossible.
AND I always like a compression curve graph to SEE what's happening. Just like the frequency graph in Tiltshift. And I'm not talking about the GR History, I'm talking about a XY-graph showing which input level corresponds to which output level, with some form of indication of where on the graph you are at any given moment. it doesn't need to be super detailed or anything, just a small icon-sized graph to quickly see what's going on. Wouldn't need values or anything just a shape. Could be underneath the VU meter or be one of the modes you can cycle through as to not clutter up the UI.
regarding the manual, this could be a bit more detailed in certain areas. Explaining the slew control with "controls the slewing of the limiter" can be confusing for some. I know it's a beta manual, and you should be able to expect basic knowledge from users of a "mastering edition", but explaining a word, with the gerund of the same word, means some people have to do further research. I a) didn't know what the word meant (which might be on me... being a non-native speaker) and b) had to look up what it means in terms of limiting. Not sure I know exactly what it is even after looking it up. It sounds like it smoothes the limiting action in some form or other....
all in all this is a REALLY LOVELY compressor/soft clipper/limiter

We've added this in B2, but in kind of a hidden way: you just type the note value you want in any milliseconds control (e.g. "1/4D"), and it'll convert it to ms based on the current DAW tempo.multree wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 9:44 pm sounds VERY interesting...

I sent all other feature requests directly to TaeHo
